Please pay attention to your roboteacher

They serve your food, they take care of you in the hospital, they even make jummy ice creams! Now they also teach children at elementary schools: ROBOTS.

This week 29 robots are teaching children in Daegu (South Korea). The robots are remotely controlled by (human) teachers of English. Yes, these roboteachers are English teachers. The robots have a display with an animated face. Facial expressions of the human teachers (on distance) are detected by cameras and reflect them on the animated face.

Roboteachers are a part of a pilot program of the government. It seems to have a lot of advantages. You won't hear them complain about salary, stupid colleagues, or lose their temper because of an annoying kid. They only need an software update or need to be repaired once in a while. Hmm, it really won't take long, or some inventors will come up with this crazy idea to create a real robocop..ulgg...

Anyway, check out the video of a roboteacher, here at Jumi!

Read more about the roboteacher in this article of AFP.

What's Santa doing in the aquarium?!!

I only picture Santa surrounded by his one and only loyal animal: the reindeer. Well, visitors of a Tokyo aquarium might be taken by surprise, when they saw/found Santa somewhere else, surrounded by other animalfriends: IN the aquarium...with stingrays! Check out the video, it's so funny and cute to see these beautiful creatures 'laughing', because Santa treats them with jummy snacks.

New movie of Goro Miyazaki

My patience will be put to the test, because i've read that Goro Miyazaki (son of godfather Hayao Miyazaki)'s coming with a new Ghibli-movie: Kokurikozaka Kara. It will be released next summer. This movie will be his second. In 2006 Goro came up with the beautiful movie Tales from Earthsea.

But what's Kokurikozaka Kara about?
The story will be based on the manga of Takahashi Chizuru and Sayama Tetsuro. It's about a high school girl, Umi Komatsuzaki, who had to grow up quickly and take care of her brother and sister, because her dad is missing after an accident and her mom is always away from home. The story follows her everyday busy (school-) life, with "tears and laughter".

I don't know the manga, but I really loved Goro's other movie, Tales from Earthsea, so this one must be as beautiful as the other one.

Can Robo take your order please?

Creepy robonurses, cute icecreamrobots....robots, robots, robots. Yep, it seems like the futuristic view on robolife, isn't that far away anymore. Recently you can also find them in a restaurant as working staff. They are employed at the Dalu Rebot Restaurant in Jiang (China).

No more clumsy waitresses who spill your drinks on your brand new pants or who smell a bit strange or are just cranky. Nope, in this restaurant, robots are serving your food and drinks! Besides having the role as wait staff, some robots are receptionists.

Ofcourse, humans are still needed to make this a successful restaurant. People still prepare the food in the kitchen and human hosts are still welcoming new customers and explain the concept of the Dalu Rebot Restaurant.

Shandong Dalu Science and Technology Company is the creator of this new robo-restaurant. They are planning to develop this concept further. Hmm, what's next..

Hairy banana liqueur

Hm is it a coincidence? 3 posts in a row starting with "hairy"... ehe.
Washed my hair today with Banana Shampoo of the Body Shop.
The delicious smell of a fresh banana made me buy it.

But when I used it while shampooing my hair, the fresh banana fragrance is mixed with a sense of alcohol. But I don't mind banana liqueur in my hair, *yummy*. This shampoo makes washing hair a sweet trip through Happyland. Along with Body Shops Banana conditioner, my hair is soft now.
Too bad the banana fragrance is gone after rinsing.

Harry Potters highlight

Definitly the highlight of all Harry Potter movies, the scene of HP Deathly Hallows where Harry and Hermione are dancing on this song. It fits very nicely. This is O Children of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Hairy Tiananmen Square

Wigs and hairextensions... Yes, some hairdressers donate leftovers of customers' hair to wigmakers. Others don't and are re-using the leftovers for their own 'projects'. Just like hairdresser Huang Xin (China). He collected hair of his customers and re-used it to build a replica of Tiananmen Square, Gate of Heavenly Peace, in Beijing! This isn't the first time that he used human hair to create pieces of artwork...Check out the video, here at Jumi.

Pandapeople are helping giant panda to survive

Workers of a Chinese pandabase have found a special way to help giantpandacubs prepare surviving life out in the wild. Pandacaretakers dress themselves up into fluffy pandasuits, before having contact with the cubs! In that way, cubs won't get used to humans, and it might prepare them better on the wildlife, surrounded by other pandas. Whether the pandasuit really helps (or not), it doesn't seem to bother the giant panda, as long as the panda can have and eat enough bamboo.

Ohh I am seriously addicted to this song. Love it and can't live without it for the past week.
Black Sheep is from Canadian band Metric, and this song was also featured in the funny movie Scot Pilgrim VS The World.

Their song Help I'm Alive is also worth to check out.
Anyways I hope Metric comes to Holland so I can see them live! (^_^)b

Pandaturd sold for 34.000 euro!

In some countries it's normal, and some people might be disgusted but it's a fact that animalpoop is re-usable. A few months ago, a zoo in the Netherlands (de Beekse Bergen) sold elephantpoop in buckets for five euro. This money went to charity.

Poop can also be much more valuable. The famous sculptor Zhu Cheng proved it with his new creation. Guided by Zhu Cheng, children from Sichuan (China), made a beautiful sculpture of the Venus of Milo, by using pandapoop! Zhu Cheng received a lot of positive comments. Some people said the sculpture actually smelled good...hm..
Now a collector bought this special version of the Venus of Milo for 34.000 euro! Well, have fun with it...
