It's been three weeks now, since the massive earthquake hit Japan. People all over the world show their respect to the victims of this terrible happening.
Last Saturday, The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, received a special message of a special person: Miffy (or Nijntje in Dutch). The illustrating father of Miffy, Dick Bruna, sent an illustration of her, to the newspaper, signed in pencil.
'The simple illustration shows the illustrator's feeling of deep sadness and kindness....Miffy's two teardrops showed his support for Japanese children.'
Tomorrow more Miffy news...

Josh Hartnett & Gackt teams up in Bunraku
Yes the title of this post names two men I'm fond of. They make me wanna go see the movie Bunraku! Bunraku is a martial arts/fantasy/film noir/comic-style movie about the story of a young man The Drifter (Josh) who has spent his life searching for revenge only to find himself up against a bigger challenge than he originally bargained for. Gackt is Yoshi, a swordless samurai with incredible fighting skills. The title of the movie is based on an old form of Japanese puppet theater.
The plot and style sounds interesting! Although there is no official trailer and this pixelated teaser looks a bit poor to me, I still wanna see it!!!! :D

Richard Simmons becomes airplane safetyinstructor
Nowadays passengers won't or don't even take their effort to watch the whole safety instruction video on board of the airplane. I can understand that, watching the video out of date just automatically gives you sleepy eyes. So when the video has started, passengers around you are already busy doing other things, they open their books, turn on their I-Pod or 3DS, they look outside the window (even though there's nothing to see, but the wing of the plane), or already fall asleep...
I bet people who'll fly soon with Air New Zealand, will be pretty surprised when they suddenly hear a dramatically happy high voice (instead of the boring video openingtune) of.......Richard Simmons!
(For those who don't know Rich, he's an American fitness instructor, who made a lot of aerobic videos back in the 70s/80s. He's easy recognizable by his tiny curly hair and petit shorts and of course his cheerful, happy voice.)
Hmm, this might be a good idea for other airlines. With a little bit of Richards help, more people will fly in safety. Work it out Rich (and passengers)!

Diamond speakers
Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Aah, how glamorous this sentence sounds....Unfortunately not everybody can afford to buy diamond stuff. Yet if you want to add a bit of glitter and glamour in your life, maybe this one is worth buying it (it's a lot less expensive than a real diamond).
Hercules introduces diamondshaped speakers! These speakers are especially for women who 'want to add a bit of glamour on their computer'. Because the ABS base are transparent, it looks like the diamonds are floating in the air.
The diamonds are small, so you can bring it everywhere. It comes with a special classy black velvet case with reinforced compartments for protection and transport. And the speakers also have a cute mini remote control for volume setting.
It will cost about 40 euros. Can these diamond speakers be your new best friend?

Second House: must-visit for cake lovers

Second House restaurant, a place I have visited too often during my stay in Kyoto, Japan. The Second House group of restaurants are best known for their spaghetti and cake. It's a cozy place with the BEST cakes, they were SO jummy! I think I may have tried all their flavours of cake XD
Today I suddenly remembered it again and I wanted to write about it. But sadly their website says that the restaurant I'm talking about, is going to be closed down on April 3, 2011. So if you are near, please take your chance to visit it: It's on the north side of Shichijo, just west of Nishinotoin on the corner with Higashi Nakasuji Street (map).
If you are reading this too late, and if you love cakes (especially home made cakes). Then you should definitely visit one of the other Second House restaurants in Kyoto, *click*.

Hmm.. After browsing through the site I am sooo hungry for these cakes, haha!
I wish there was a restaurant like Second House in Holland.. if you know, tell me!! ^-^
Visit filminglocations with free Tokyo map

Stop searching for the filminglocations by yourself and get the Map of Tokyo Filming Locations.
Yes, besides information about tourist destinations, cuisine and shopping, you can check out and relive your favorite scenes of your favorite movie/dorama with this special map.
The maps are provided in (of course) Japanese, Korean Chinese and English. You can get it at the Tokyo Tourist Information Center. It's free!

Become a Jedi: go to the Jedi school
Maybe when you were younger you might have dreamed about it, after watching the movies a trillion times. Becoming a real Jedi (Star Wars)! Being taught by the one and only Master Yoda, who has the fighting skills, a lot of knowledge and a long loooong life experience.
Now it is possible to become a Jedi (I'm not kidding!). In Chile, Quilpué, they have a real one and only Jedi Temple, a special martial arts school, where children between 6-12 years are being taught the ways of the Force. Besides having normal lessons in reading and math, the young students also learn yoga and taekwondo. Besides that, each kid will have their own replica lightsaber, and with that they will also learn about lightsaber techniques. Wisdom, serenity, nobility and the do or don't attitude are keywords to this special school.
Unfortunately the young students are not being taught by the one and only Master Yoda, but by other instructors. Dressed in special Jedi uniforms these instructors will teach the kids as good as the Master.
Hmm, would this Jedi school be a success? Maybe no, I don't think so. But maybe yes, 30 years ago....Maybe they should set up a Jedi martial arts school for grownups?

Popin' Cookin': dinner made of candy
Last month JUMI posted about sugared sushi, sushi made of candy of Kracie. How cool is that, playing with your food, without your parents getting angry.
I almost fell from my chair (2nd time this week) when I saw videos of Kracies' other candy-foodpackages. Unpack, mold, stir a bit and dinner is served, within three minutes!
Now you can order two of Kracies packages at the website of J-List.
Check out this one: dumplings with ramensoup (soy sauce flavour), all made of soft candy, jummy!
Watch other videos of Popin' Cookin' on RRcherriepie's youtube. Now I'm hungry....

Cute Rilakkuma dancing speaker
OK, so you're tired of helping Rilakkuma with dancing to your favorite music? I mean 'force' her to dance by using your own hands to move her head and hands? Maybe your Rilakkuma doesn't like your music, that's why she's not dancing.
I think you should check out this new Rilakkuma. She's a real dance-addict! Plug in your Ipod (pc or cellphone) to Rilakkuma and she will definitely dance to your music.
This little girl has a zipper on her back, where you can put in you cable and at the front she has a cute little blue bag for your Ipod.
You can adopt dancing Rilakkuma for 47,70 euros at Strapya World. Her friend Korilakkuma is also adoptable.
Now let's see how she swings to your favorite music.

OMG it's the giant kitkat chunky!
JUMI loves chocolate! And uhm, when I saw this video I almost fell from my chair. It's a video about the birth of a giant Kitkat Chunky. The creator made this giant chocolatebar of seven kilograms (!), that's the same amount as 140 normal Kitkat Chunky's. Watch the video, but beware: don't watch this if you're hungry or you'll get a heart attack.

Cool Panda Adidassneakers
Last year we've posted about the cute cuddly Adidassneakers of fashion designer Jeremy Scott. I didn't (and still don't) think that guys would wear those sneakers, because it looks too cute, too girlie. Not for the cool guy....
But guys, listen (or read) to this! Jeremy Scott came up with a new 'cool' design of cuddly Adidassneakers, cool enough to wear it. Just like the cute cuddly Adidassneakers, this one also has a plush exterior and the tongue of the shoes are in a shape of a pandabearhead. If you take a closer look, you can see that the pandas also wear really nice sporty manly headbands. Pretty cool huh. Would you wear it now?
I don't know when these cool Pandadidas will be released, but JUMI will keep you updated.

Sendai Selections: Japan Fundraiser, by Stone Detectives
Gaga started to raise money for the victims of Japan by selling bracelets. And there are many other examples of fundraisers all over the world.
But JUMI wants to give attention to this special fundraising project "Sendai Selections" with music by Stone Detectives. They've selected the nicest songs especially for this project. Check out their songs, and while listening you can decide whether you want to give a donation to the Japanese Red Cross by downloading it.
Go to Stone Detectives at beatsforchange.org now (track Company ft. Little Brother, very nice and track 18 aug2001 gives me goosebumps...).

Fukushima plant becomes cartoon Nuclear Boy
It's been a week now since the terrible happening in Japan. Sometimes extreme differences are shown in how media all over the world report about it. Some western media use a shocking way of bringing news, with headlines such as 'NIGHTMARE TRAPPED IN CITY OF GHOSTS', 'GET OUT OF TOKYO NOW' 'PANIC!' and so on.
Now the Fukushima plant is subject of the day. Today I saw a Japanese cartoon about this plant which has been portrayed as "Nuclear Boy". The first time I saw it I really didn't know what to think about it, because I only saw and read 'shocking' newsreports. And now I've watched this kinda humorous cartoon, about this boy who is a metaphor for the Fukushima plant. 'Nuclear Boy is portrayed as having a very bad stomachache and passing gas but still trying to hold it in' (source: the Wall Street Journal, blog Japan Real Time).
So what is your opinion about this cartoon?

Nintendo love tester is back!
I still remember the first time when I played with a Nintendo. It was a Game and Watch handheld, a multifunctional product, because I also used the handheld as a TV, couch or bed for my Sylvanian family-dolls (sorry bro). So I grew up with the idea that Nintendo is the godfather of only making (video-)games and consoles.
But a long looooong time ago Nintendo also produced a lot of other products. In the late sixties they've created this special one: The love tester. And now I found out that a remake has been developed.
Of course this is just a funny, silly, rather useless gadget. Ah well, just as useless as a lot of other gadgets nowadays. How does it work? Well, first of all, the technology is pretty similar to which is used in lie-detectors. Both partners have to hold a knob and then hold hands (or make other physical contact). And then the meter indicates the strength of love for each other.
So if you want to give your friend an useless gadget again, or you're in a I-don't-know-what-to-buy-with-my-salary mood, you can order the love tester here.

Meet Robbie, the homeless robot
Maybe you've already seen him around the corner on the streets. With his light blue shoes and his ghettoblaster.... Those who don't know this cute little man, Robbie, need to watch this video. Check out his moves. Very well done, Robbie! (Could he still be homeless nowadays?)

Legofigure becomes USB-stick
It's pretty easy to make your own USB-stick with your Lego blocks and minifigures. Now Lego finally decided to make its own official Lego USB-stick. It looks a bit strange, because you have to take of his pants in order to use the USB. The stick will cost about 18 euros. Uhm, I'm not sure if thousands of people would stand in line to buy it, once it's available in stores...Ah well, for the Lego addicts...

Spiderman, his real face
So you think he's fake? That he's just an imaginary hero? Spiderman? Not in Britain. Because that's the place where he lives 'secretly'. And recently he has been spotted in Dorset after 35 years. 'Since 1890 only 41 one of them have been seen in Britain' (source: metro.co.uk).
His real (Latin) name is Philodromus margaritatus. And there has been taken a real close up picture of Spiderman. It's a spider with a human face. As you can see, this spider was a bit surprised when someone took a picture of him.

Even though some people think he's scary, he really doesn't mean no harm to humans. Ofcourse, he's Spiderman the hero.

ALDI bonbons: it's what's inside that counts
THIS is chocolate to die for! And it made me blogging about ALDI!! :D
If you love chocolate and you have an ALDI supermarket in the neighbourhood, you should definitely try out their bonbons. (ALDI is a discount supermarket). The box is called Isaura Belgische pralines (Belgian bonbons) and costs about 2 euros. Don't get fooled by the cheap looking box, it's all about the inside! ;) The chocolate is delicious. The box is filled with 2 layers of generously sized bonbons, each with a different filling like butterscotch crunchy creme or strawberry creme.
Jummy!

City Hunter becomes live action drama
Usually I'm not really excited when I hear that another animation will be adapted into a life action movie, for exampla Akira. But now I found out about the manga/anime City Hunter, which will be adapted into life action drama. It caught my attention a bit more positively. Why? I'll tell you later...
City Hunter is originally a manga of Tsukaso Hojo. The manga has been issued between 1985 and 1991. In 1987 the story has been adapted into anime and in 1993 it became a live action movie, starring Jackie Chan. I don't know if it was a big hit, but on May 25th there will be a new release of a live action drama of City Hunter. And I think this will be much more of a succes.
One of today's greatest Korean young actors, Lee Min Ho, will have the leading role in City Hunter, of private detective Ryo Saeba, who'll fight against crime in the city. To me this sounds like a BIG PLUS! I'm very impressed by Lee Min Ho's acting skills (especially when I saw dorama Personal Taste, eheh) and I'm sure he'll play the role perfectly.
Click here, if you want to read the original story of City Hunter.

Smelly 3D-games?
![]() |
| Scentscape by Scent Science |
This special smellmachine must be plugged in into your console or PC or Mac. A special oil-cartridge then responds to your gameplay. Maybe this machine can make gameplays easier. For example, you can smell an alien, who's waiting around the corner to scare you.
Now these machines produce standard fragrances, but manufacturers are already talking about game-specific refills. Hmm, I'm wondering how Mario would smell...

Geminoid DK: the Danish humanrobot
Last year I got a bit scared when I saw the video about robonurse Actroid F. A humanlike robot, that looks so realistic. Scientists won't stop till they've created the perfect robot that can't be distinguished from real humans.
Recently a new humanrobot has been introduced: Geminoid DK. This robot is a copy of a Danish scientist, Hendrik Scharfe. Mr. Scharfe wants to use this robot for his research about interaction between robots and humans. The robot is controlled by a special computer, that copies facial movements of the person who controls the computer. This one looks much more realistic (=scarier) than the 'friendly' robonurse.
Ulggg, a second ago a horror scene came across my mind. What if your best friend suddenly stands in front of your door at night, saying nothing, just looking at you with an empty look in his eyes. Ieeeek....

Necono, the catcamera
So there you are, at a party of a friend and you brought your camera with you, unfortunately not the new Panasonic make up camera. With the uber-mega-lens you're zooming in on a group of friends, and before you shoot the picture, the friends are posing in a way that looks a bit stupid: a fake smile, slightly uncomfortable, with a cliche pose. *click* Even though your friends are having a great time at the party, it doesn't really show on the picture, unfortunately.
Avoid this situation by replacing your huge heavy megalens camera with the tiny cute Necono camera. Necono is a digital camera with the shape of a cat. It looks like a toy to me, but if you take a closer look at Necono, you can see that the left eye is a lens and the right is a sensor. And it's magnetic, so you can stick and put it everywhere you want. Because the camera is so tiny, it doesn't 'scare' people who normally avoid the camera, and you can take pics without anyone noticing. So you can take much more spontaneous pictures.
The camera will cost about 136 euros and will be available in May/June in Europe.
If you want to get to know Necono better, you definitely should check out the website of the creators, www.superheadz.com.

A humanoid cell phone: Elfoid
You didn't even blink your eyes, or a company came up with another, fiftieth edition of a cell phone. Some people are crazy enough to buy the latest mobile phones all the time, even though the 'old' phone still works. For those, this new type of cell phone, might be interesting: Elfoid.
A research institute in Japan created this special cell phone, with a kinda odd appearance. It has the shape of a half-formed human, with a skinlike exterior, from where sounds comes out if its head.
It is created with the idea 'to make users feel closer to the person they are conversing with'. Elderly, for example, can have a more comforting feeling if they're talking to their grandchildren on (or to) the Elfoid instead of a regular cell phone.
The creators are not done yet with the Elfoid. They want the robot 'to move its head and arms based on the voice and movements of the other line, which will be captured on video and transmitted to the other phone.' I still need to get used to the appearance of this speciale phone, but i'm glad that this isn't just a standard upgraded-new-version-with-new-apps-and-angry-animals-games-and-other-useless-stuff cell phone.
Elfoid is the smaller version of last years' creation Telenoid R1. Check out the video of Telenoid R1, here at Jumi!

Exciting supernatural Psychic
This Korean action thriller 'Psychic' (or 초능력자) is about a man with a supernatural ability (played by Kang Dong Won) who can control people’s mind for his own sake except for one person (Ko Soo) who later becomes his strongest enemy.
This movie was so fresh and cool, you as Jumi-reader have to see it!
The two main actors are a great team. I was also amazed by two foreign actors in this movie who both spoke Korean so fluently! I envy them!! Anyways here's the trailer. Full movie can be seen here.

Peanutbutterfloor
![]() |
| man licking off his fingers while buttering |
This is actually considered as an artistic object. "Pindakaasvloer" (Dutch for Peanutbutterfloor) is made by artist Wim T. Schippers. This piece of "art" aims to show that in principle everything is meaningless and absurd, but is therefore worth the effort nevertheless.
... I don't know, do you? For me it's useless, meaningless and so not worth it as I am allergic for peanuts. For peanutlovers and for those who wants to enjoy this art live and cannot make this at home, the exposition of Wim T. Schippers will open March 5 at museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
What are you doing? - I am making a floor with peanut-butter. - Is this a joke? - No it's art.
The man explains it's different than plastering, physically heavy to do this and still loves peanut-butter. :D

Panasonic camera puts on your makeup
Last Friday Panasonic released a new digital compact camera LUMIX FX77. And nope, this isn't an ordinary camera or else I wouldn't post about it.
There you are, at a party of your friend, even though you're not really in a partymood. You didn't sleep well last night, so it left dark circles under your eyes and a pale face. You've eaten so much candy and smoked so much (as if you're life's depending on it), that your teeth have turned yellow. Conclusion: you just went to a party looking like a zombie. And then the most horrible thing happen. An annoying friend shows up in front of you with a camera in his hands. Noooooo, go away!
*ignore*avoid*hide*........Not if he has the new Panasonic Lumix FX77!
Using makeup without putting it on
This new touchscreen camera has a special function, the 'Beauty Retouch'. With this function you can edit your picture on the camera itself. You can remove dark eye circles, cleanup the skintexture, whiten your teeth, make your face look smaller and even magnify the size of your eyes. And to complete the makeover, you can use the Make-up function. With this function you can choose the color of the foundation, apply rouge, lipstick and eyeshadow. How about that? You went to the party looking like a zombie, but on the pictures you just look like a princess (or prince).
3D
And yes, I have another 3D item: This Panasonic camera can make 3D-pictures. Shoot 20 images of something or someone and the camera combines it automatically into one 3D-picture! (hmmm...need to save some money.....)

Jumi on tour: Skunk Anansie @ HMH Amsterdam
We've waited for a VERY long time (bought the tickets in June 2010), and last friday we've finally seen them: Skunk Anansie at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. The evening started with supportact The Virginmarys and their music is uhm...well, we were really impatient and excited and we really couldn't wait to see Skunk Anansie perform, so we didn't enjoy the support act to be honest.
Back to Skunk Anansie: after 11 years they're back and introduced songs of their new album Wonderlustre. The opening was awesome. Skin was wearing huge cool things on her shoulders that looked like devilish wings. The lighteffects were fantastic. It was like a thunder, thunder, thunderstorm inside.
Skunk Anansie played new songs (ofcourse) and it took a bit to get used to their new sound. It's not that their sound is extremely different from before. But they've grown, some songs were softer, a lot less 'angrier'. We were glad that they also played old songs like Charlie Big Potato, Secretly, Brazen. And when they played Weak, the whole audience sang along. It was nice to see it.
Skin's vocals are amazing. She still has that powerful voice! Loved it!
