Sand art by soundwaves

Creating art by using soundwaves? Huh?

Artist Kenichi Kanazawa has been filmed while he was creating sand art by the vibrations of sound. He just puts some colored sand on a table and grabs a special stick which he taps and glides over the table. By tapping, he creates really noisy soundwaves, that even the tiniest sandgrain on his table jumps up and down with excitement.

Mies Container restaurant: male version of Hooters

We all know the concept of the Hooters restaurants (or Teasers in Amsterdam). And I wonder why there isn't a male version of this type of restaurant...Well, today I found out that there is: Mies Container in Seoul!

The restaurant is filled with good looking manly waiters, who are 'overtly friendly to the female customers ....'. And the interior simulates the concept of a male-only working space of a construction site. Just to give the restaurant a more masculine atmosphere. The restaurant is a big hit among women in Seoul, who wait in long lines to get in. 'The wall next to the cashier is papered with napkins where customers have jotted little notes about their visit. "Dear hot waiter, please marry me!" reads one.'

It doesn't have exactly the same concept as Hooters, as i've seen pictures of the staff, and they are  dressed properly. But, according to Mies restaurant, 'it exhibit higher quality dishes, friendlier service and trendier design.' And well, that's the most important thing to me, having served jummy high quality food...yet I wouldn't mind to have my dinner served by a high quality manly-man waiter *eheh*.

Worlds first 4D theater in Seoul

Even though it sounds futuristic, it won't take long for all of us to experience movies on a different level: in 4D! Imagine this, you're in the theater watching a brainless 3D action movie and suddenly the main character in the movie punches someone, but the camera films a close up of his punching fist. At that exact moment you feel that your chair moves 'shockingly' to the back. Or what if you're watching the newest National Geographic wildlife documentary about uhm...elephants walking somewhere. After a few minutes you see one elephant standing still. Wonder why? Well, you can already smell something...smelly...

This month CGV opened worlds first 4D theaters in Korea. The 4D screening uses more than 30 special effects including moving seats, scent, sprinkling water, laser lights and wind. Don't expect to smell everything constantly or feel a punch in your back a thousand times. It really wouldn't be fun to get out of the theater with bruises all over your back, half nauseous of smelly stuff. So I think they just use regular special effects. Go to cnngo.com for more info.

By the way, did you see the 5D horror attraction?

Cameraless camera: Air Clicker

Have you ever been a photographer for at least one day when you were still at primary school? Well, I was. Even though I didn't have a camera when I was 7, I still could make some pretty cool pictures, by using my fingertops (as if holding an invisible camera). Click! Many year later people would call me idiot if I'm using my invisible camera again...

Now designer Yeon Su Kim came up with something really awesome. It's an 'invisible camera' that really creates pictures by of course using your fingertops. You just have to wear small special rings (or bands). One on you thumb and the ring with the shutter button on your forefinger. When you bend your forefinger, as if pressing the real button, it senses the tension and click! There you have it, your picture taken by your thumb and forefinger. The rings are connected with bluetooth, so you can see your pictures immediately on your smartphone. How cool is that! So next time you see someone making those movements with the hands, as if taking a picture, don't call him/her idiot again.

Love Story

I just found out about the work of a Spanish graphic designer, Nacho Diaz. He made some really funny realistic-in-our-fantasy-illustrations. For example, have you ever seen the mysterious scary Bermuda Triangle. Well, I can tell you, he doesn't look scary at all. It's just a coincidence that he loves the taste of boats and airplanes. Or do you know what Harry likes to do in his spare time? Making pottery! And do you know how Blade Runner really looks like? Take a peek at naolitoart.com

Pillowbear against snoring

So you're having a sleepover at your place. Sounds like fun, having fun all day and night, until it's time to sleep. And what if you're that unlucky person that has this friend who snores like a motorcycle in dolby surround, volume 1000! Noooo!

It's time for a solution. Ask your snoring friend to use your bear as pillow. Uh bear? Yup, a professor, Dr. Kabe from Waseda University’s Kabe Lab came up with this cute invention: Jukusui-kun! This is a bear that doesn't like snoring people. Let your friend sleep on it, and every time he/she starts the motorcycle, the bear will react by moving his hand towards the head. In that way, the person will turn around from lying on the back to moving onto the side, which will reduce the snoring sounds. Watch a short demonstration, here at JUMI!

Jummy pandapoop tea!

Last time we've posted about edible human turd, nicely mold and shaped into a normal looking burger. Now a Chinese professor, An Yanshi, came up with the idea to create drinkable turd: pandapoop tea!

The professor believes 'the rich fertilizer will give his brew a unique aroma that will make it a connoisseurs' favorite'. It will have a rich, nutty flavor. Research showed that pandas have a poor digestive system and only absorb thirty percent of their food. That means that their poop will be rich in fibres and nutrients.  So that would be very healthy for us to drink!

So, what's on todays menu: turdburger with a cup of pandapooptea?

Read this: Pandapoop-art sold for for 34000 euros.

Just discovered this amazing sauce. It's called Manis Pedas sauce by ABC.
A bottle of sauce cost just 1,49 euros and it's delicious on everything. Or it makes everything more tasty.
Especially with these Aviko rösti rounds, they make the perfect combination. It's a mild hot sauce with a sweet chili taste. I am really addicted to this sauce and can't imagine a life without a bottle of this haha. Well, it passed the JummyOrNot test easily!

Brussels Japan Expo so-so

We bought the tickets eleven months ago (because the expo supposed to be held in April) and last Friday we went to the Japan Expo 2011 in Brussels, finally!

It wasn't really crowded. I saw a few people dressed up in their cosplay outfits. Some of them were walking at the expo with a 'look-at-me-i am-so-cool-attitude' dressed up like cr*p. But some don't, like the girl here, dressed as the vocaloid Hatsune Miku.

Stands
There were stands selling manga and animestuff. I bought a classy Totorobag and Totoro hairpins, yippee! But also Japanese snacks, clothing, accessories, CDs and there was even a K-Pop/J-Pop stand selling merchandise (I bought something beautiful here too, *eheh*). Unfortunately a lot of stands offered the same stuff. There was also an area where artists could show their works. I saw an artist busy drawing a mangaversion of a visitor.

Entertainment
Gaming area at the Japan Expo Brussels

Even though the expo had arranged some entertainment, I wasn't really entertained that day. There were some fighting demonstrations, which I didn't see, and a gaming-area.

It was too bad, that we couldn't find a program anywhere. Well, on the website, but it's only available in French (!), not even in English or Dutch. That's not good.

And there was a maid-cafe. The only 'maid-thing' about it, was that there were a few people dressed in typical maid clothing. That's it! The interior wasn't decorated or something, it was just a separate space with maids walking in it. Nothing special.

The Japan expo was okay. We've seen what we already have expected. Not big and too much of the same stuff. But it's nice to to see the first Japan Expo in Brussels.

Best Friends Hello Kitty and Tokidoki

Last time I daydreamed too much about me sitting on a beautiful Tokidoki chair, wearing Tokidoki-Fornarina high heels, holding a limited edition classy black Hello Kitty-Tokidoki bag. Hmm, I think I want to add something more to this daydream:

While I'm still sitting on the chair, I want to know what time it is, so I look at my watch,

and I decide to go outside to buy a snack, so I grab my brandnew wallet......

These cool products are from the newest Tokidoki - Hello Kitty collection: Best Friends. And I love it. It has a simple look, with black and white as basic colors. And of course I found them on the Sanrio's website. Click here to check out the new collection. Now it's time for me to wake up again.

Dior into videogames

When I read magazines, I don't even pay attention to all those makeup ads of expensive brands, such as Dior, except when Hello Kitty is involved :). Because I always see these women, with flawless skins, posing being 'perfect'. But now Dior came up with a new makeup commercial. And yes, finally a really good commercial, that definitely stands out, between all those cliche commercials. Dior combines makeup with oldscool games. Do you recognize all games?
