Get in the spring mood with Hello Kitty Iris Sneakers

I think Hello Kitty is already in a sunny spring-mood, if I see these sneakers. She poses with her shades on, on these Hello Kitty Iris Sneakers. These kicks are made of suede material on the outside and soft polyester lining, so it keeps your feet warm, while it's still winter.

So, if you're looking for some nice warm Hello Kitty Sneakers, that aren't toooo isolating warm as the Ete!'s or the Gwen and Etienne Kitty-sneakers, but just good enough for nowadays weather, then the Iris Sneakers might be perfect for you.

Hello Kitty got swag: Hella Kitty Swag!

So Hello Kitty has got some swag? Hmm, I think we can argue all day on this. Whether she has it or not, producer Starscream decided to make a song with some swag, Hella Kitty Swag. Hahaha, I really didn't know what to think about it, when I saw this music video for the first time. It's just too nuts, hilarious, bad, crazy funny. Well, you should check it out yourself...

Oh, by the way, before I get messages, phone calls, doorbell rings and mail: I am not the glassy girl in the video :)

Fishing Spirits game: fishing without real fish

What if I decide to go outside for a peaceful time on my own, take my rod and start fishing.... Hmmm, that wouldn't be a good idea. I'm just too clumsy to attach the wormy bait onto the rod. And I don't think I'm patient enough to wait for a dumb fish to eat my bait. Too much stress, goodbye peaceful time on my own...

For clumsy impatient people like me, Namco Bandai Games came up with a new cool game. This game simulates real fishing: Fishing Spirits.

Fishing Spirits has a huge fishtank (which are two 55 inch screens) filled with different kinds of fish, just swimming around just like real fish. And of course, fishing rod shaped controllers are attached to the fishtank. When you hold the rod, it feels like you're fishing for real. 'When you get a bite, the rod starts to shake and the reel becomes heavier, depending on how big the fish is. When you reel in, you get your catch'.

So I'll probably feel de-stressed after fishing (no more wormy stress), because I'm sure I'll catch one fish, at least. But I won't go home with a fish...ah well, I just go to the fishmarket afterwards.

Check out the video for a demonstration.

Glowing Diva Heels

OK, after seeing these light up shoes, I stopped longing for those nineties shoes, the light up L.A. Gears. Check out the glowing diva heels! The front and the heel can light up. Luckily the light can be switched on and off, so it's not like the oldschool L.A. Lights, that light up, each time you're moving your feet.

These diva's won't look dull if you turn off the light, because the heel itself looks pretty. It has gold-colored mechanical wheels on it. Yes, keep on moving with those heels!

I found these custom made glowing diva heels on Etsy. Click here for more info.

Funny Dutch commercials

Recently saw two commercials on the TV that deserves a post here on JUMI!
First one is from Center Parcs, the well known holiday villages:

They show a man living next to a uhm.. charming looking neighbour who can't be avoiden. Center Parcs then gives the solution for these kind of neighbours to stay at their holiday houses with privacy.

Second one is from the brand Bolletje about 'ontbijtkoek'. Ontbijtkoek is kind of a cake that can be eaten in the morning or during lunch. It's kind of a mix between bread and cake. When you eat it, it gets really sticky in your mouth as it sticks everywhere around your teeth. Check out the commercial:

Sing with noiseless microphone

'Stop screaming! We're trying to get some sleep!'....uh, it's eight o'clock...hm.

Do you also have nagging neighbors, complaining about the noise you make, in your own house? Well, it's no use to discuss the noise-problem with your cranky neighbor. Would he/she understand that your 'screaming' actually is your attempt to sing Dal Shabet's song Hit U that you just can't get out of your head...

Well, there's a solution that makes you and the neighbor happy: the Noiseless USB Karaoke Mic!
It's a microphone with a sound-proof urethane cup around it. The only thing you need to do is plug it in your iPhone/iPad. And now you can sing as loud as you can, because the sound will be cupped between you, the iPhone/iPad and your headphones. So you can hear yourself sing, only you. How cool is that? No more nagging neighbors!

Fart Art from the Edo-period

Students from the Waseda University in Tokyo found some pretty interesting images of artwork during the Edo Period: Hegassen emaki – 屁合戦絵巻. I didn't know the meaning of it. The image above is beautiful, but looks normal to me...until I saw the other images. Before I show you some images, guess what this artwork is all about. Let me give you two hints:

  • Look at the picture above. Just two groups of people right?
  • The name of the artwork is Hegassen -> sounds like gas -> being gassy...

Yes, it's about a battle of human gasses! He-gassen means The Fart Battle. Here are three other images.
Are those gasses really that strong? Hmm, eating too many eggs isn't good.
Whow, riding a horse and shoot at the same time. Multitasking?

Are they trying to defend themselves with paper fans? Uh, that won't work.
Hehe, pretty interesting, huh. If you're enthusiastic about this work of fart, you should check out the other images too. Click here.

Swizz Beatz in K-pop mood

Last time we've posted about Teddy Riley and his K-pop songs. And it seems like more American producers want to do something with K-pop.

Today hiphop producer Swizz Beatz had a press conference in Seoul to discuss the growing impact of K-Pop on the global music industry. This is what he said: "What I found in Korean pop music is a new expression. The world is open for new things and I think right now K-pop in Korea is leading in that area. I’d like to be the one to introduce that to the West...”

I hope this will also lead to more popularity in Europe.. Or well, to be more precisely: in the Netherlands. Unfortunately our popmusic-charts are just filled with too much crappy artists (Geert Pardoes, Michel Telo (reminds me of baked cassava), Studio Murderers, Crane Daddy WT???!....) singing horrible songs in terrible music videos.

Anyway, Swizz Beatz hopes to see a collaboration between Rihanna and 2NE1 one day. Hm, I'm not looking forward to it. I don't like Rihanna's voice and music. 2NE1 doesn't need her to gain more popularity or success in the West, because their music already has an international sound.

I don't know for which k-pop artists Swizz Beatz wants to make songs, but I'll keep you updated.

Here's one of 2NE1's old songs 'In the Club'. It's not their original MV, but I really love this fanvid made by LiVeLiKeURdying2. Have fun watching!

Today the 500th episode of The Simpsons will be broadcasted in the US. Just in time before airing this special episode (with Julian Assange). Thanks to Jeremy Scott! For his fall/winter collection 2012 his models showed the Bart Simpson collection on stage. Even Mr. Scott himself proudly showed off his new sweatshirt. Check out the long legwarmers, pretty cool huh?

This is just a part of his new collection. Did you already see his colorful Flowerpower collection?

Ahhh, the Simpsons bring back good memories. Do you remember Bart's huge ninetees hit? Check it out here, at JUMI!

Spongebob Nike Dunk Heels High

OK, this time it's not a post about a new Hello Kitty shoe. Nope, it's all about Spongebob. Yup, the annoying talking sponge. While I was searching for some Nike Dunk heels high, I found the Spongebob version. Even though I hate this talking sponge, I like the way how Nike has implemented the character into the shoe. It even has spongeholes. There's also a Mickey Mouse version of the shoe....Even though these heels look funny, I don't want them! I'm waiting for the Nike Dunk heels high (or low) Hello Kitty version! How long do I have to wait??!!

Buy your own Boo!

Boo, the world's cutest dog! And his fame still rises. It all started when Boo's boss, put some pictures of Boo on the internet in 2009. As a joke the boss also made Boo's own Facebookpage and guess what, now he has 3.222.489 likes on his Facebook! Yes, besides being the cutest, I think he's also world's famous dog now. Boo even has his own Boo-book, with lots of photographs.

Ahh, don't you want to have your own Boo? Well, now you can have your own...

At the toyfair in New York this week, a plush version of Boo has been introduced.

Yup, from April 1, you can buy your own Boo in toystores. It's a lot less expensive than buying the real Boo.

Hmm, would you buy a plush Boo? Or do you want the real Boo?

Journey around the world at home

OMG, my eyes are tired. I just traveled back from a journey far far away. I went to a bakery shop in Seoul, trying to catch a glimpse of what kind of jummy stuff (hehe) they have inside the shop. Afterwards I went to the neighbouring country, watching the neonlights in Dotonbori, Osaka. Then I went straight to Mong Kok in Kowloon, to see how crowded it was. And I ended my journey at Malioboro street in Yogyakarta....all just in fifteen minutes! Hooray Google Street View!

We all know (or not) how this works. A Google-car just drives around and takes pictures everywhere. And there are Google-bikes too, that goes to places where, of course, you're not allowed to drive with your car. I've never seen a Google-car or bike. Until two minutes ago...

Meet a Japanese Google worker, and see how he works on Street View. Isn't he cute?

Ete! X Hello Kitty wintershoes

It seems like Jeremy Scott continuously inspires other brands to create shoes with odd shoe tongues. Last year Ubiq came up with some sweet Hello Kitty sneakers and now I found out that Hong Kong brand Ete! has a whole Hello Kitty collection. And it includes these hiking/wintershoes, where Hello Kitty, again, has been decapitated, to become the shoe tongue.

Besides the hiking shoes, Ete! also has Hello Kitty high-top platform sneakers. And again, her head has been used as a shoe accessory. Poor Kitty....

Eat helium in restaurant Alinea!

Imagine this: There you are, in a restaurant. Today you're treating your boyfriend or girlfriend or best friend or grandma for a jummy diner. And you've even ordered the meals beforehand. So the waiter comes to your table to serve the meals...surprise surprise, today you're going to eat AIR! Huh? Airy air? Just plain air? WT...Is this a joke?

No it's not! Restaurant Alinea in Chicago really serves air, or well, actually it's helium. Helium served in an edible balloon, with some dehydrated apple in it.  Jummy. Well, after a visit to this restaurant, you'll come home with a satisfied tummy (yup, of course they serve a lot of other food) and another voice.

JUMI on tour: Made in Asia 2012 Brussels

OK, I don't want to have too high expectations (after visiting Japan Expo in Brussels last November), but next month we will visit Made in Asia 2012 in Brussels. This event will be held from Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April.

I think Made in Asia is pretty much comparable with the Japan Expo, but bigger. For three days the Brussels Expo Hall is filled with stalls selling anime/manga stuff, k-pop/j-pop stuff, k-drama merchandise, games, cute gadgets and more. There's also an entertainment program, with performances of Japanese artists, such as the visual kei band Blood and Yuuki (hm, not my cup of tea). And there are competitions of best cosplayer, dance competitions, videogame tournaments...

This year the organization also invited animator and director of the anime Sword of the Stranger, Masahiro Ando (also known from Ghost in the Shell, Metropolis). So if you're a huge fan, you definitely should come, because there are signing sessions.

Anyway....hopefully this time I'm coming home with a looooot of plastic bags stuffed with Totorostuff and K-drama merch, hiihiiihiiihiii (OK, OK, I shouldn't get too excited).

MADE IN ASIA 2012
Brussels Expo: Belgiëplein 1, 1020 Brussels, Belgium
Date: Friday 30 March to Sunday 1 April
Tickets: Friday (free entrance), Saturday or Sunday €10 (€8,50 presale), Saturday/Sunday duo ticket €20 (€16 presale)

Whoaa these Reebok Workout even glow in the dark!

If you want to stand out in the crowd with your feet, you should check out these new sneakers: Atmos x Reebok Workout. They are sooo white that my eyes will hurt if I see them in real life. Yes, they are just simple bright white white. Too bad if it's getting darker outside, because then, nobody would even notice you're wearing bright new white white Reeboks...or will they?

Yup, see how these bright sneakers look in the dark....they glow!

Because of the 25th year anniversary of the Workout, Reebok worked together with fifteen top retail partners from all over the world. With Atmos they've created the Glow in the dark version. Atmos: "We wanted to convey that the Workout will be reborn welcoming the 25th year anniversary, so we chose a scene that evokes the birth of new life from an egg – the crack. The ‘Glow in the dark’ image creates an impression of mystical feelings of the birth of a new life". Anyway, if you want your feet to glow, you won't have to wait too long, because these sneakers will be available in stores starting February 15.

First North Korean restaurant opens in Europe: in Amsterdam!

OK, next time we set foot in Amsterdam (and if we've saved a looooot of money) we might check out this new restaurant: Pyongyang restaurant. Yup, this is the first North Korean restaurant opened in Europe. Besides eating, you'll get a glimpse of the culture by entertainment, provided between courses.

The menu (a nine-course meal, whoaaa...I think I won't be eating for two days...) costs 79 euros, but it has been said that they are planning to 'offer more affordable dishes such as Korean noodles and dumplings after the restaurant's official opening on Feb. 17.' Will they pass JUMI's jummyornot test?

Simple One Star Super Mario Bros Converse

Last year we've posted about the Super Mario Bros Chuck Taylor All Stars. Well, it seems that Converse just can't get enough of this little plumber, because now they came up with a new Super Mario Shoe: the One Star Super Mario Bros. Ox.

There's a white and black leather version of this shoe. The Converse logo has been replaced by the yellow star of the game and Mario earned a pixelized place at the heel of the shoe. They will available at the end of March and will cost about 123, 51 euros. Hm, pretty expensive for a simple shoe. A well, if you have a boring office job, I can imagine that you want these Converse to be your new workingshoes.

Toothache? Go to the Hello Kitty dentist

So there you are, waiting for your appointment. Sitting in a clinical white room. Staring at some old posters on the wall, about how to brush properly. Smelling that typical fluoride smell. Hearing children cry in other rooms. And then, a person, walks towards you, wearing that typical white outfit, with a white mask hanging under the chin, saying that you're NEXT......it's the dentist, aaaaarghhh!

A visit to the dentist might be less horrible, if you're living in Tokyo. In January a really really pink cute Dental Clinic opened in Koto-Ku (Tokyo), with a Hello Kitty theme. Everything looks cute. The walls and chairs are pink,  the seats in the waiting room are...pink and heart-shaped. Even the sink has the shape of a heart. Unfortunately it isn't Hello Kitty herself who's treating patients. Her hands are a bit too fluffy and big to operate in your mouth. Anyway, 'the clinic uses the character as a way to make going to the dentist less nerve racking for patients, especially younger ones.' Hmmm, maybe a good idea for European dental clinics? No more crying children...and adults....

Teddy Riley into Kpop/KRnB

Teddy Riley, former member of Blackstreet and producer of songs of Keith Sweat, MJ, Usher and a lot of other American singers...Here in Europe, we haven't heard from him for a while. He is not retiring or something, he's just too busy producing hits in South Korea!

A few months ago he made the song The Boys for girlieband SNSD / Girls Generation. (Hm, I don't like this song, it has a Pussycat Dollish sound...I'd rather hear Gee). Now he's in a boyband mood. For the new South Korean/Chinese boyband EXO, Teddy produced What is Love (hmmm now the old crappy 90's song of Haddaway pop up in my head, noooo).

And a few days ago he also revealed that he's working on a song for boyband SHINee. Anyway, if you're curious about Teddy's Asian work, you should check out these songs.

JUMI on tour: IFFR 2012 Tokyo Playboy Club (review)

Yesterday we went to see the movie Tokyo Playboy Club of director Okuda Yosuke, at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The theater was almost packed and a couple of seats in front of us were reserved. Hm, I wonder why, because one guy frequently played with his stupid smartphone and some others left halfway the movie. HM, whateverrr...

(*SPOILER ALERT*)
The story starts at an outdoor workplace where we meet Katsutoshi, the leading man of the movie. While he and his collegues are working, a student pops out of nowhere, nagging about that he can't study because of all the noise the working men make at the workplace. Suddenly the student totally freaks out and wants to hit the collegues with a giant hammer. And then Katsutoshi, calmly as he is, kills the student, by hitting him once. After this incident Katsutoshi flies to Tokyo, to his friend Seikichi, owner of an unsuccesful club. Here he meets some interesting people: the barman of the club, a real loser(1) who stole some money from the club and now has to 'force' his girlfriend to be a hostess for that same club. And he meets another loser(2) at a restaurant. This loser acts stupid agressive towards Katsutoshi. But ehm don't mess with Katsutoshi or else...So Katsutoshi totally beats him up. And then loser(3), a wannabe gangsterboss with tattoos, who looks o so dangerous, but in reality is a...real loser (haha, funny to see when you find out why he's just a wannabe gangster loser). And then something happens to the gangsterboss. Katsutoshi finds him dead in a room of a lovehotel. And the only person who was in the same room at the moment, was the girlfriend of loser(1). Hmm what to do with the body. Well Katsutoshi knows...and then a hilarious scene starts.

Well, I don't want to tell the whole story of Tokyo Playboy Club, but this movie has some really good hilarious scenes. And it's all supported with some typical nostalgic accordion music. The ending theme really fits the whole feeling of the movie: raw and bloody funny. Yes, it's a funny gangstermovie with some goofy characters and the cool guy Katsutoshi. If you want to see Tokyo Playboy Club, don't have a Hollywoodmovie expectation that people get killed every five minutes. Some scenes were a bit too long (for example, when the girlfriend is wandering around in a store).

Anyway, it's Okuda Yosuke's (1986) second movie (after Hot as Hell trilogy), and if he's already directing a movie like this, at such a young age, I really wonder how his movies will be like in the future. Hmm, I'm already looking forward to see Yosuke's next work.

Dramatip: What's Up

Another K-drama got me hooked! It's called What's Up (said in a dark low voice).
The first episode is already exciting enough to make you watch the next episodes. The story in ultrashort: about a couple of students of a Musical school. It's totally not a Glee ripoff (I hate Glee). This refreshing and new story is more dark, more serious and fun on its own way along with great acting, especially from main actor Im Ju Hwan. The students each have some serious things going on, like for instance killed someone... on purpose or not?

Big Bangs Daesung has a part in this drama too, and sang the electro rock/pop song Lunatic for this drama's soundtrack. This clip gives a pretty good impression of the drama. Have fun watching!! :)
