Gangnam Style police protects tourists in Seoul

Today was a special day for tourists and police in the capital city of South Korea. Yup, today the country has introduced the Gangnam Style police force. This is a special police force for tourists.

Why now? Well, there's an increase of tourists coming to the country and last year it topped 10 million for the first time, partly thanks to the popularity of 'Gangnam Style'. The special tourist police force wasn't really created because the country is unsave. But they're "ambassadors who promote how safe this country is", says the president of the Korea Tourism Organization. And they speak Japanese, English and Mandarin.

But of course, they will also be there to protect tourists from being ripped off (when it happens). “Those who think they were overcharged by taxi drivers or street food vendors can come and talk to us. We will help settle the problem". So what's so Gangnam Style about this police force? Well, they all wear special uniforms from rapper Psy’s costume designer. Today they were especially introduced at a launch event, with a police drill unit performing his signature horse-riding dance. And well, as I said before, the increase of tourists started partly thanks to Psy's Gangnam Style.
