Supercute song from Lee Seung Gi - Love Time

So today I was working at home, sitting in front of my computer. My hands were icy cold, so I grabbed my cup of warm tea, while looking outside the window. The sun was shining...and for a moment I felt like I was Seoul, sitting in a relaxing coffeeshop, enjoying the atmosphere with a cup of tea in my hands, while listening to soft background music....And suddenly I woke up, because the song I was listening had ended!

Yup, the new poppy song of Lee Seung Gi - Love time/Alone in Love, made me feel this way for a moment. The song is so cute, sweet, touching (with short conversation breaks, it's like you're sitting between Lee Seung Gi and his girly friend)! Click here to listen to it, maybe you'll find yourself for a few minutes in a coffeeshop in Seoul too.

Dark Korean anime: The King of Pigs

OK, I really need to see this animated thriller by Yeun Sang-ho: The King of Pigs. This low-budget animation won three awards at BIFF this year, including the NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Award and Movie Collage Award. So it caught my interest even more, after reading the storyline and watching the trailer.

The story
This mature animation is about two middle school friends who are reunited 15 years after their graduation. It begins as one of the two, impulsively murders his wife after his business goes bankrupt. He seeks out his long-lost friend, who now makes his living by ghostwriting someone’s autobiography. When they were younger they were bullied by classmates. Then they became friends with an outsider who has some morbid, strange thoughts “one has to become a monster in order not to live like a loser.” This boy had planned a gruesome revenge against the class bullies, and the viewer will only find out the shocking truth of his plan at the end of the film.

The King of Pigs will be released in theaters on November the 3rd (in Korea). Hopefully we can see it in our theater in our little country soon too. Anyway, the trailer looks awesome. Watch it here, at JUMI!

Drama A Thousand Kisses

Now Protect the Boss has ended (JUMI's doramatip, really a must-see!), I'm watching another drama for a few weeks: A Thousand Kisses. When I saw the first couple of episodes, I wasn't really amused,  it was boring, because the storyline was a bit cliche to me. But after ten episodes, the story became much more interesting. So now I want to share my new addiction to you.

The story
It's about two sisters. One of them has a child and is getting a divorce, because her husband took her for granted and cheated on her. And her sister is just a young happy girl who lives at her grandmothers' house, because their father died and mom left them, when they were still kids.

One day the happy girl, meets a rich chaebol man (Ryu Jin, who also played in Babyfaced beauty), who's much older than her. And they're starting to like each other. Her sister meets a younger man and they're starting to like each other too. It seems like fun, but it wouldn't be a dorama if the story is about two happy couples. Of course both women have to face a lot of problems. Both men are part of a rich family and the women are not. The mother of the rich chaebol man also has a dark secret, which makes the relationship a bit difficult. And the younger man, well, he fell in love with a divorcee who has a child. So it's a bit scandalous for the family and on top of that, he has a crazy psycho ex-girlfriend. The drama is pretty serious, but it also has some funny, light moments.

I love the acting of the mother with the dark secret: Cha Hwa Yun. She also played an excellent role as rich mom in Protect the Boss. But in this drama she played the role as rich mom, with a totally different background (very humble, quiet. Very different than the witch rich mom in Protect the Boss).

Well, if you would like to see A Thousand Kisses, just go to dramacrazy.net

DEADLINE post-it stop motion

I remember these days, when I had to write theses at school. I left so much Post-it notes and prints in my room, that it looked like my desk suddenly had disappeared. Yup, it was a real mess. I think we can't live without Post-it's nowadays. We need it, yet Post-it's can be annoying sometimes.

Bang-jao Liu from Taiwan filmed his frustrating adventure with Post-it notes, during his deadlines.
"Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline." Watch the video, here at JUMI!

Hello Kitty dressed as her friend?

We all know that Hello Kitty has a huge wardrobe. Depending on her mood she loves to dress herself as princess, nerd, emo or a rockstar and even as Streetfighter. But now I found some pictures of Kitty (I think she's already in the Halloween mood) dressing as some of her friends! Whaa, if Keroppi and Kitty dressed as Keroppi, would stand in front of me, I really have to look twice, to point out the real Keroppi!

Celebrities of the season (Korean)

So, what are the hairtrends of next winter? What accessory is a must-have, next spring? What were the fashion trends last summer? And what make up colors are 'in' this autumn? Well, of course a lot of (trend-) stuff are related to a certain season. Yes stuff...but I won't discuss the fashiontrends of next winter, because there are too many websites showing it. There are also other things to relate to a season, besides fashionstuff: people, celebrities!

The Korea Tourism Organization came up with an international survey to determine which Korean celeb goes best with each season. People could fill in the survey on the organization's Facebook and Twitter, as part of the 'Visit Korea campaign'. But why did they do this? With this survey, they're "trying to discern the needs and inclinations of Korean Wave fans, by region".

So, now, I proudly present you the Korean celebrity winners of the seasons!

Autumn celebrity
Hyun Bin has been selected as being so autumn. I love his acting. He played in Korean dramas, such as Secret Garden and in movies. His latest movies were Late Autumn and Come rain, come shine. Now he's serving military service until December 2012. So for now, we'll have to be a bit more patient, to see him on screen again.

Winter celebrity
Bae Yong Joon is the winter celeb. He's an actor too. He's known for his role in the drama Winter Sonata and he also produced and played in Dream High. To be honest, I don't know much about him (still need to see Winter Sonata). The only thing I know is, that he has beautiful white teeth :)

Spring celebrities
Girls' Generation is a popband that has many hits in Korea and abroad. Recently they released the song The Boys, produced by Teddy Riley! Yup, the guy from the Blackstreet.

Summer celebrities
And the celebrities of the summer season are: Super Junior. As you can see, it's a cute boyband, with a lot of members. And they sing poppy, (often) happy, danceable songs.

So, do you have your favorite season celebrity?

Tokidoki lovers and diva's, if you really want to sit in style, then this might be the perfect chair for you! This is a limited edition Singapore Wingchair. I found it on clickforart.com. Well, if I had the money I would definitely buy all 33 chairs (yup, the company only made a few Tokidoki chairs).

What if, what if I really had this chair *daydreaming again*, then I would sit on it, wearing these high heels from Fornarina (these beauties were available a couple of years ago, unfortunately, as far as I know, you can't buy them anymore),

holding this limited edition Hello Kitty - Tokidoki bag.

Hm, it's time for me to wake up now!

Re-use your chopstick: turn it into a plant

When I order food to take away,  I often get wooden chopsticks with it. Too bad that I have to throw it away after using it, because I already have a tray loaded with chopsticks. Wouldn't it be nice if you can re-use the sticks for other purposes?

Well, designer Gyeongwan Koo came up with the idea to 'recycle' the chopsticks into plantholding sticks. This is how it works: after finishing your sushi, bulgogi or chicken teriyaki, you just have to stick the chopstick into the ground. Wait a few days and....there you have it: a plant is growing out of your chopstick!

The secret is a special cap, with seed in it, at the end of the chopstick. The cap is harmless when you accidently put it in your mouth. When the stick is planted into the earth (of course the side with the cap), the cap will be dissolved. How cool is that! So in the future, we all grow chopstickplants in our garden.

This one is for the ladies: 2012 Toyota Camry

OK, I'm not a carfreak, but when I saw the video of the new 2012 Toyota Camry, I spontaneously drooled so much, that I had to change my shirt. What a beauty!

As part of the campaign, to promote the new car, Toyota made a special webseries with someone who is just perfect for the role, and fits the car perfectly: the Korean actor Lee Min Ho.

Story of the webseries

Our hero suddenly rises from a coma. He has no idea who or where he is. All he has are the keys to his 2012 Toyota Camry. When he gets inside, something triggers a flood of images from his past. Then, when he uses the Camry's Entune system, a key memory sets him on his journey.

You can watch part 1 here. Go to www.toyota.com/oneandonly to watch the other episodes.

Gosh I wish they had casted me for the series: Joon and Ju....sounds nice...

Mass games: Changing human billboard

Billboard, advertisements...we're almost drowning in the huge amount of ads outside and on the tv, nowadays. I can't even remember which advertisement I saw, just a few hours ago, when I walked down the street. It's just too much.

You might remember some of the ads, because it's digital, with moving/changing elements. It's different and it stands out. In some countries they have moving ads, which doesn't change by using digital stuff, computers or whatever, but it changes by human hands. This is what they call: Mass games. (Well, it's not really really advertising, yet it sends a message by using images...)

To celebrate the birthday of the leader, 100.000 people gathered at the Arirang festival (North Korea) on August, to give an unforgettable show, by mass games. They all hold a colored paper and during the games they have to change it to another color. Watch the video, here at JUMI.

Just watch the wall, as it changes. Yes, it really is a human wall...

Ultratiny micro amigurumi animals

Meet the tiniest amigurumi insects and animals! These are made by Su Ami, from Vietnam. I don't know how they (hand-) made these stuff, because it's so incredibly small. Some insects even have the same size as real insects (or smaller). For example, the honeybee above is 10 mm small (!).

Su Ami also made some cute animals: giraffes, bears, owls, turtles. And also celebrity amigurumi such as Pluto and Pink Panther.

Robot.....it's alive, alive!!!

It sounds and looks and will always be science fiction, watching Short Circuit, Astroboy, A.I. and other movies, starring robots that are almost human.Yup, because we all know that robots are pre-programmed to do their jobs. But now it seems like science fiction changes more into a real life story.

A Japanese scientist, Osamu Hasegawa of the Tokio Institute of Technology, developed a robot that can think and learn by itself. For example, if you ask the robot to bring soysauce to the diningtable, the robot gathers information on the internet (on his own) about what soysauce is, and then he can find it in the kitchen. Next challenge for scientists is to learn robots moral values, which would help them to decide what's right or wrong. Hmm, so 'Johnny 5 is ALIVE' in the future for real? And we all have our own Astroboy over 5 years?

Multiply yourself with 3D masks

Imagine this: you walk into a dark street, a deserted alley, or just a dark room. All of a sudden you see people (20 or something) surrounding you, with black capes on, so you can't see their faces. But then they pull down their capes, all together, revealing their faces...... Ieeeeeeek, OMG, WT......THEIR FACES! They all look like you! This could be a script for JUMI's horrormovie, just fiction....or not?

Nope, nowadays it is possible to multiply your face with 3DPF, 3 Dimension Photo Forms, of the Japanese company REAL-f. And just like the company's name says, this print looks so real. How does it work? The company shoots pictures of different sides of you face and then they print it on a special resin stretched of a mold. Even (not so nice) details such as acne, blood vessels, will be printed. So if you just love your face, you can order your own faceprint for almost 3000 euros. (Or if you want to make your own horrormovie...)

Go to real-f.jp and facebook.com/REAL.f.jp for more info or pictures.

Everywhere we go, whether it's in the street, on the road, in the supermarket, even in offices: we all deal with different kind of gasses. Well, if you're stuck in such a unpleasant situation, you might find this educational video of Ash interesting. He teaches Pikachu, how to act and react when a gassy problem occurs. Run in Asics Hello Kitty style

Woke up early today, planning to run a round in the neighborhood. But when I opened my window, my hands got all wet: it's raining! And it's so cold outside! Ah well, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day to run.

While I'm still in the running-mode, why not share some runningnews! I found some cool runninggear on the net by Asics. And nope, not just the regular stuff, but a complete 'Run with Hello Kitty collection holiday 2011'. And I really love it (especially the hoodie jacket)! It's not the first time that Asics and Sanrio work together. In 2009 they introduced the runningshoes Asics x Sanrio Hello Kitty-Gel Lyte III (but those colors were ugly). The new collection will be available next month.

Review: Gantz 1 & 2 live action movie

Yesterday we went to the movies Gantz and Gantz: Perfect Answer. These are truly the highlights of Camera Japan festival of this year. The movies are packed with lots of action and eyecandy.

Gantz is a live action movie adapted from the manga. I haven't read the manga but I've seen the anime. In the anime the main character Kei is really girl-crazy :D but that has been totally toned down to a very low level in the movies. The first movie follows the story where the anime starts. In really short: two guys died at a train accident and wakes up in a room with a black ball 'Gantz'. Gantz orders them to kill aliens and score points. If they get killed by an alien they will die, for real. I bet the manga explains more and have more details, but the movies are well made to stand on their own. Both main actors Kazunari Ninomiya and Ken'ichi Matsuyama return as castmembers for the second movie.

Gantz: Perfect Answer starts where the anime has ended so that was all new for me. It was totally awesome and contained more action scenes. First all the alien killings happened in another dimension of Tokyo. But this time regular people can see them. The threat of aliens entering the room of Gantz is getting higher now. The train scene was really great to see with horror aliens who won't just die. There is even a battle between two Ken'ichi's!

So if you haven't seen these movies, go!!

The suits they are wearing fitted so well, they make you want one. Well at least me XD

JummyOrNot: Coconut Ice by The Ultimate Collection

So today I tried the Coconut Ice candy by The Ultimate Collection.
I've seen it sometimes in a shop, lurking at me and whispering "I know you want me" in a sweet voice. Well today I finally give in and bought it! It's fudge with a coconut taste according to the package which is showing us deliciously looking soft fudge in pink and white.

So I opened the package, and there is a much smaller sachet with some blocks of fudge. They are not white and pink. They are white and not-so-white-peachy colored. They look rather dry and broken than soft and fresh. And when I bite into it, it doesn't take me to a tropical island but it takes me to a cheap supermarket. What is this? I have been fooled by the perfectly cute looking package. It was expensive and sooo not worth the money! It's really dry, tough to chew and it just taste like sugar. I can't taste coconut, just only the sweetness of sugar unfortunately.

This candy definitely failed the JummyOrNot test :(

Usagi Drop at Camera Japan

Finally we've seen Usagi Drop/Bunny Drop. And I must say, the director Sabu made an awesome live action adaptation of this manga and anime.

The film starts the same as the anime, so where the two main characters meet each other for the first time. And I must say, I was impressed by the acting performance of the little six year old (young) girl, Mana Ashida, who played Rin. She's just as cute as the anime-version. And Kenichi Matsuyama as Daikichi played his role very well too. There was just one scene with a classroom full of toddlers and for a moment I saw a kid looking into the camera. Ah well, I guess this is inevitable and it's not really disturbing.

Even though the subject of the movie is pretty serious (thirty year old single man has to take care of the daughter of his grandfather, so he has to face parenting and nurture for the first time), there were a lot of funny moments.

Usagi Drop is a feel good movie, for a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon.
