See 3D movies in 2D! (DIY)

Tired of 3D? I want to see many movies in 2D because often 3D doesn't do anything spectaculair, but the cinema isn't showing it. Or only in Middleofnowheretown. Luckily there's a solution!! Check out these smart peeps:

I will try this as I have two pairs of 3D glasses getting dusty at home (yes, because I forgot to bring the first pair with me when I went to a movie that was in 3D.....). I'll post an update with my 2D glasses! 8D

Zac Efron or James Franco as Kaneda (Akira movie)??!

Last year we've posted about the making of Akira into a live action movie. Allen and Albert Hughes (Menace II Society, from Hell) will be directing the movie. I really didn't know what to think when I heard that Morgan Freeman will play the role of Colonel Shikishima. Now I've heard that Zac Efron (what the *?) and James Franco are mentioned to play the possible role of Shotaro Kaneda. Why the..what the....Hueh??

Ok, the actors are good...But the actual story of Akira is already good by itself. There's no need to put famous actors into the movie. And the choices of actors who possibly have to fulfill the roles...well, I imagined Colonel Shikishima to be like someone else, definitely not like Mr. Freeman. And Zac Efron as Kaneda, hm. Also the movie will take place in Manhattan, not in Tokyo. Hm, the movie should be called Ameriakira or something..

Ok, I'll stop nagging about the movie Akira, because those who don't know the story, will probably like the movie. And guess who will be writing the script? The scriptwriter of Harry Potter, Steve Kloves! (I love the HP-books and movies) So maybe, hopefully the movie won't be that bad after all...

WORLD ORDER in NY (synchronized dancing)

Maybe you've already discovered them. The group of Japanese businessmen who are dancing synchronized: WORLD ORDER. Genki Sudo, a member of the group, also known as martial artist and kickboxer (K1 and UFC's), writes the lyrics and does the choreography.

Last time they went to New York to shoot the video. I hope they'll shoot a video here in the Netherlands, someday. That'll be fun. Filming in front of the Queen's palace, or at a crowded Museumplein in Amsterdam or just in some random street surrounded by some crazy Dutch people..

Check out the video of WORLD ORDER, here at Jumi!

A 2minute 3D commercial

Yup, here I go again, another 3D post. This time I saw a commercial of 2 minutes (!).  I hate commercials on TV (who doesn't), for example the one of Jillz (sparkling cider), where you see those guys hopping around as if they're all that.... *Zap*

Well, the 2 minute commercial I just saw wasn't 'zap-worthy'. It's actually really beautiful. It's like watching a short movie in 3D. At the beginning I really couldn't guess that the commercial is about....

Sapporo beer.

Watch the commercial here, at Jumi!

Transform your view on screen into 3D

Nowadays it's almost inevitable. Going to the cinema and watch the movie in 3D. Before entering, you'll always get those boring black glasses to fully enjoy the movie. I remember those silly cardboard green/red glasses....It seems that there's an increase of brands who respond to the 3D-glasses trend. Brands such as Gucci and Calvin Klein eventually produced '3D-design-glasses'.

Now Hasbro created a real special 3D-glasses version: The 3D-mask. Yup, the special glasses are placed into a mask, with the shape of Optimus Prime's and Bumblebee's head. The masks will cost about 7 euros and will be available from May, 2 months before the new Transformers movie Dark of the Moon hits theaters.

It's not the first time Hasbro came up with the idea to create Transformerheads with special features. Two years ago they also created a voice changer helmet.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I want to see this Transformersmovie (because the first one s*cked)...So what if I already bought this mask then, should I bring it all the time when I go to the cinema? Watching Battle Royale 3D while wearing this mask, hmmm....

Japan Expo Brussels in November

Overexcited as we were, we've posted very happily about the Japan Expo in Brussels, held in April. Today we accidentally found out that the date of the Expo has been changed (there's a really small note on the website of the expo). Now the expo will be held from 4-6 November. I'm glad we didn't booked a hotel yet, or else I would be really grrr...

Exam for Hello Kitty Freaks

So, you say you're a Hello Kitty freak? You think you know everything about this cat? Wait till April the 3th and do the special Hello Kitty 'Exam'. Sanrio organizes this quiz in amusementpark Puroland in Tokyo.

This is what you can expect: The exam starts with a test of 25 multiple choice questions, which you have to finish within 20 minutes. The best 'students' will move on to the final round. In the final round, students have to compete in a 'fastest finger first'-style quiz.

If you're interested (and you speak Japanese), you should check out the website Puroland. You can take the exam for 4,43 euro (with a ticket to Sanrio Puroland of 26,27 euro).

New X-Men & Thundercats anime series

Yess! Two of my favourite tv-shows are in development for new anime series! Both are planned later this year to be aired.

X-Men
Check out the trailer of the upcoming series. This looks so good!

Thundercats
No trailer yet, BUT a preview of the characters just got released.
Hmm what do you think? I kind of miss the wavy big hair of Lion-O, but who knows his new haircut is still wavy in the anime! ;)

Remake movie Ghost

Last time I posted about one of my nostalgic movies: Robocop. During that period (or was it a few years later?), there was another 'blockbuster' starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze: Ghost. To be honest, I've never seen this movie (because I'm not a very big fan of the actor and I didn't like the story). Maybe it's time to give it shot and watch Ghost. Or well, I'll start with watching the remake of the movie: Gosuto, the Japanese version.

Yup, last year Ghost has been remade by director Taro Otani. Last autumn it has been released. In this version the woman dies. This role is played by Nanako Matsushima, who also played in Ringu (the Ring). Korean star Song Seung-Heon is the leading man in this movie. He's also known from the dorama My Princess.

Watch the trailer, here at Jumi!

Doramatip: My Princess

Recently I watched episodes of this dorama till 2.30 AM! (and No, I am not unemployed..) This dorama is so addictive that I needed to watch all the episodes which dramacrazy.net already uploaded.

The story
An ordinary student finds out that she isn't that ordinary. She was adopted when she was 5, because she lost her mom and dad. She never knew that her biological father was a king. He didn't lived wealthy or a typical kingdom life, because he was on the run and lived as a homeless man. So the kingdom died out. A very powerful and rich organization, Daehan Jonghap Group, decided that it is time to bring back the kingdom. They searched for the girl, and they found her, the ordinary student who actually is the princess. All of a sudden her life changes, from being a student living an ordinary life in a normal environment to a princess living in a huge palace. From that day she's accompanied by a guy from Daehan Jonghap Group, who teaches and protects her, because she's the princess.

Don't expect this dorama to be like the story of The princess diaries or whatever. My princess is a story with (of course much dorama), humor, family problems, history and love.

There are some interesting characters in this dorama. Particularly one person really should be nominated for a 'best *itch of the year': Yoon-Joo, played by Park Ye-Jin. She did a very great job, playing that role really really well! And Hae-Young (by Song Seung-Heon) uhmm....well, you need to see it yourself :)

You can watch the episodes at dramacrazy.net

A homage to Robocop

I was 6 years old, when I first saw him. Even though he looked a bit scary to me (half man-half machine), he was a good man: ROBOCOP. And after 24 years, he might return to his city Detroit.

Recently a group of artists and fans decided to honor this important man by creating a huge sculpture of him. Unfortunately they couldn't finance the project so an online fund raising period started. With donations of fans/supporters the group already raised $60,488. They still need donations until March 29 to create the best sculpture for Robocop.

Not everybody is very happy with the idea of placing a sculpture of Robocop in the city. Some say it would create an image of Detroit being a city of crime. The mayor isn't eager about this idea either. So even if they raise enough money, they still need mayors' approval. And I really hope they will get his approval. Anyway, if you've forgotten who this legendary cop is, you should check out the video of Robocop, here at Jumi.

If you want to make a donation, you can go to the website www.detroitneedsrobocop.com

JUMI's favorite love ballad

Get refreshment through intravenous drip

Yes, it's Friday! That means it's time to have a drink with your collegues after work (even though you're tired and sometimes don't even want to see the faces of some of your collegues in your spare time). Sometimes you're forced to have a drink at the office or at the same old boring cafe nearby. Sometimes there isn't much choice.

How would this social celebration of your weekend be, if you work in Tokyo and Nagoya? Well, then there might be another option and location for you to have your drink: The IV bar!

Don't expect to be served alcohol or other unhealthy stuff. Nope, this bar offers you a healthy refreshment after work. You can order a 'jummy' cocktail made of all sorts of vitamins and supplements through intravenous drip, while relaxing on a comfy chair, reading magazines with a beautiful view of the city outside. The cocktails only costs from 26 to 105 euro.

There a many reasons why people choose to go to the IV bar. "Some come here to have a cocktail to boost their energy, improve their health or beauty." (Source: Kyodonews).
Hmm, imagine having a drink with your collegues, while you're all stuck with cables, lovely.

Battle royale 3d

3D this, 3D that, 3D-photo's, 3D-doramas, 3D-bodyscans, and after the introduction of last years Avatar, we're overwhelmed with 3D-movies nowadays. Now they even create remakes of old movies into a 3D-version. Last november the classic movie Battle Royale 3D was released into cinemas in Japan.

The story
It's about a class (with a lot of disobedient students) who are having a school trip, but this isn't an ordinary school trip. The students are dumped into an island where they have to kill each other, until there's only one student left. Stars as Takeshi Kitano (Dolls, Zatoichi, Outrage) and Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note, Parade) played their roles very well.

If you've seen this movie, can you imagine how some things in the scenes will be much more emphasized? The blood splattered all over the screen, gunfires and so on. "The downside is that since it was not made with 3D technology in mind, only certain actions or objects were suitable for conversion. So do not expect the non-stop and super-realist effects you see in Avatar." (Reuters).

I really hope this movie will also be released in cinemas in my country. Hopefully we can also enjoy a remake of Ringu (The Ring) soon :)

A bodyscan in stores?

Some people really hate it to shop for new clothes, waiting for your turn to use the fittingroom, holding your breath because the fittingroom smells like someone else's sweat, trying new sweaters on and finding out that the sweaters don't fit...

For those people, this new invention might be the solution to skip the misery of shopping for new clothes: the 3D-bodyscan in stores!

The 3D-bodyscan is just like the bodyscan we know from the airports, but much more advanced. The scanner measures your whole body within seconds. Then the clothingsizes comes out of the machine, also specified in brands (because brands use different ways of measurements). The biggest departement stores of the Netherlands, V&D and Bijenkorf are interested in the bodyscanner. Probably about two years we can expect the first ones in these stores.

Hmm, I just prefer the 'old-fashioned' way, by using the fittingrooms. And about the exact measurements coming out of the machine, well, sometimes people purposely choose to buy a sweater one size bigger (or smaller). And what if the scanner can't recognize your sizes in its system, people just might get sad or dissappointed...

Anyway, we have to wait two more years. Jumi will definitely test this scanner (maybe, it is fun, I don't know, we'll see).

Chocolateroom

Willy Wonka and his Oompa-Loompa's created the chocolatefactory, but Mindaugas Tendziagolskis created (together with other artists) the room of chocolate!

Visitors of a shoppingmall in Lithuania must felt very lucky and surprised, when they suddenly saw a room, literally made of chocolate, in the mall. Everything is made of chocolate, the floor, ceiling, the furniture and even the food on the table. Unfortunately chocolatelovers are not allowed to eat anything from the room. They'll just have to wait until March 8. Then the room will be broken up and the chocolate will be distributed to visitors. Mmmmm.

Tweetmirror: ask for a long distance second opinion

Yes! Today's the day that you're a day off from work (or school), so you decide to go to shopping for new clothes. Hmm, unfortunately your friends need to work today, but well just go shopping alone can also be fun. You're in a clothing store and found two beautiful sweaters: A cute pink carebear sweater and a purple Monchhichi sweater. But you can only buy one. Hm, let's try it on then, let's see which color looks better...And then the problem begins, both colored sweaters looks fine on you, and on this crucial moment you need a friend beside you, who can give his/her second opinion! Help!

In the near future, the solution might arrive everywhere: the Tweet Mirror. If you stand in front of this digital mirror you can see yourself (of course), but you can also take pictures with the special touchsceen on the mirror, while wearing the new outfit. The pictures can be send directly to Twitter or Facebook or you can just e-mail them. On this way, your friend can still give his/her second opinion as if he/she's standing next to you, on distance.

You can already find the Tweet Mirror in a couple of clothing stores in Europe. In the Netherlands and Belgium, four brandstores of WE already have this special mirror. So...which one shall I buy? Pink or purple?

Marry me at the Mac

In January they already started with this new service, weddingparties at their restaurant: The Mcdonalds! From now on you can order your McWedding-party at these restaurants in Hong Kong. You can already have a weddingmeal, with weddinggifts (hehe, now I imagine those silly plastic toys of the Happy Meals), pink invitation cards with the golden arches on it (ofcoure, ofcourse) and ofcourse it wouldn't be complete if the scary clown Ronald didn't appear somewhere. Ronald + the Hamburglar are on the decor during the party. This Mcdeal only costs 1282 US dollar! And you can even buy a weddinggown!

First I couldn't imagine that people would want to have their wedding at the MacD, but yes, there actually are couples who are really interested in this idea.

According to the director of the communications department, they already receive about ten calls a month. 'They date here, they grew their love here, so when they have this important day, they want to come over here'.

Hm, maybe a Valentine idea for next year? Click here, to check out the McWedding-arrangements.

A bar of chocolate for giants

You maybe know the brand Meiji (Japan) of the jummy products like Hello Panda biscuits, party animal cookies, yanyan dipsticks. Well, good news about them: Meiji has its name written down into the Guiness World of Records, with the newest record as having world's biggest plastic advertisement. This huge billboard is 166 meters in width and 28 meter high. Besides its size, this huge billboard also stands out by the way it looks. It actually is a giant plastic bar of chocolate!

Don't throw away your tangerine peel!

If you have a 9 till 5 job, you definitely must have these days that you don't feel like working or you're just bored. To kill the boringness at work, you just decide to surf on the internet, check out Facebook a trillion times, read useless tweets of your friend who bought new socks, watch silly videos at youtube..

It's time to use your time of boringness properly. Why don't you re-use the fruit you daily put in your lunchbox. Yes, peelings of tangerines, oranges and of other fruit can still be useful. Cut the peelings into beautiful artwork, for example.

Be inspired by artist Yoshihiro Okada. He started to create beautiful pieces by using peelings of tangerines. You can try it too, with his book ‘A New Way to Peel Mikans’ as your little guide.

The ultimate food contest: eat mochi

Last Sunday there has been held a jummy contest in the prefecture Ichinoseki in Japan: The National Mochi eating contest. Too bad that I wasn't there, because I'm a big mochi-fan.

16 teams competed with each other, eating as much mochi as possible in five minutes. The winning team succeeded in eating 83 mochi's (with a 58 year old teammember, Mr. Hirokuni Takeda, who ate 64 pieces all by hisself). They didn't beat the record of 122 pieces. But whow, this is also a great score, knowing that you could easily choke eating a mochi, when you eat it too fast. Luckily there were no accidents during this annual contest :)

Jumi on tour: IFFR 2011

So the 40th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) just took place, and JUMI checked out some films at the festival. What did we like or dislike??

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
"Three tasty shorts". But the first 2 meals weren't as tasty as Dinner. Breakfast was a little too predictable from the beginning. I find Dinner very beautiful made, even in detail. The characters were nicely casted. I can't forget the old lady in this movie, she was great. The directors of Lunch and Dinner and the producer were at this screening of the 3 shorts too. At the end of the screening there was some time to interview them. The directors told us about their difficulties during filming (such as sunlight and fear of rain) and which part they rather would film if they could start over (they'd stick to the same parts ofcourse ;)). It was really cool of them for being present!

Essential Killing
Ok, I had SUPERhigh expectations because of the hype of this movie without dialogue. But sadly the movie changes into hopeless running of the main character. The end didn't surprise me. Boring....

The Red Eagle
So I had no expectations of this movie at all and it really surprised me. It's a funny action packed thai movie with Ananda Everingham as a superhero. I can't tell more, you should just see it. It has nice film effects, cool fighting scenes, great camerawork and more eyecandy. Hehe... ;)

Bleak Night
I was very impressed by this Korean dorama of director Yoon Sung-Hyun. The three main actors acted very well, that you could almost feel the emotions of these boys. The story gives the viewer also a little insight into the Korean youth-culture and their way of social communication. At this screening the director Yoon Sung-Hyun and actor Park Jeong-min were there.
Unfortunately the clumpsy techniques of the Pathé cinema disappointed me (blank screen during the film and pixels...) While the director was there! Luckily the cinema fixed it some minutes later so we could enjoy the film to the fullest.
After the film, the audience got the change to ask questions to the director. It was nice to know that Bleak Night actually was the directors' final exam film from KAFA (Korean Film Academy). Whow, compared with some examfilms of European academies, this really was a masterpiece! I really hope that we can see more of Yoon Sung-Hyun's films in the future. Bleak Night, a must-see dorama!

Be in Korea for a moment, in Rotterdam

Jumi loves jummy food. One of Jumi's favorite is the Korean cuisine. During International Film Festival Rotterdam we discovered Gamasot, a small Korean (take away-) restaurant. Here you can order typical Korean dishes such as bulgogi and bibimbap. We tried kimpbap (Korean version of sushi) with tuna and ramyun chicken and ramyun beef (noodlesoup with veggies and jummy marinated pieces of meat). We were a bit tired that day, and the ramyun was just what we needed. The soup was spicy (but not too hot) and together with the meat, it just gave us a boost.

The kimbap was also jummy. We washed away the spicyness in our mouth with Shikhye, a sweet ricedrink with sugar and ginger. The meals were freshly made and you could taste it. This was SO good! You can find the restaurant at the Pannekoekstraat 103a in rotterdam.

If you're planning to go to this restaurant, we recommend you to visit Kazaguruma, a cute little shop next to it. Kazakuruma is a shop specialized in Japanese and Korean stuff (food/drinks such as kimchi, green tea, tablewear). A taste of Korea in Rotterdam!

Heaven for obsessive chocolatelovers

Chocoholics, you might have heard of the heavenly creations of this designer: Tadaaki Wakamatsu. This is the guy who turns chocolate into everything, from cellphones, bags, jewelry and even glasses! Well, actually the look and structure of bars of (melted) chocolate and other jummy stuff inspires him.

Recently he presented his newest creation: a real Smart Car with a chocolatebar-theme! So chocolatelovers if you have (by any chance) 28.000 dollars left in your wallet, do not wait, fly to Japan and buy this car. The car will be available until March 13.

Yet you're not sure if you want to visit the famous Van Gogh museum...a quick sneakpeek at the collection might help to decide whether to go or not. And now it's possible! From now on Google offers you a sneakpeek at this museum, with the website googleartproject.com

Happy 50th B-day Ken!

He's a role model for a lot of guys these days. With his 'perfect' hair, face, sixpack, clothing and his slick attitude...Everytime, in every decade, every year, he always succeeds in seducing that one girl, Barbie. That role model is Ken.

It all began in 1961. On the set of his first commercial Ken meets Barbie for the first time. That day they fell in love and became a couple and they stayed together for a long long time. In 2004 they broke up. Toymaker Mattel told the public that this couple, just like a lot of other Hollywoodcouples, weren't in love with each other anymore. Yet, 2 years later they decided to get back together. And yes they're still a happy couple! Today is the 50th anniversary of Ken. Jumi congratulates Ken (and Barbie) with the anniversary!

Check out the history of Ken (sorry the video's in Dutch)
