Chow Hon Lam brings food to life

Ever imagined what a piece of sushi would do if you just let it rest on the table? Wondered what happened when you see a broken egg on the ground? Maybe Chow Hon Lam knows with his food illustrations.

T-Shirt Designer Chow Hon Lam came up with a series of food comics that shows how food would live on an ordinary day, when nobody is watching. Or well, with nobody I mean humans of course.

Disney princes become Magic Mike

Sooo, have you already seen the new Magic Mike movie? No? OK, to get you in the mood, check out these guys of Disney. Yup, or shall I say OMG... Magic Eric, Magic Alladin, Magic Beast... uh The Beast of Belle? Yup, even this creature was inspired by Mike. Disney princes dressed themselves up (or well, took of all their clothes) and treated their princesses with a Magical moment.

Ieekk, Disney princesses turn yellow

OK, we have to wait a little bit more than a week. And then we will get an invasion of little yellow..... Minions!

I've already see them everywhere in stores. Yes, these little yellow fellows try to adapt to our society by showing their faces everywhere! And now the Minions have shown their faces at Disney. Recently they dressed theirselves up as Disney princesses!

These Disney princesses are created by Jen Lewis of BuzzFeed. Each of the Disney Princess Minions created are accompanied by the apologetic phrase, 'I'm so sorry.' Don't feel sorry, the outfits look minionishly good! I totally like the royal diva look of Cinderella Minion. Which Minion is your favorite?

I know, I know, it's not Friday yet, but I couldn't wait to show you this new music video of Japanese singer Namie Amuro 安室奈美恵, with Golden Touch. And yup, you can experience the 'golden touch' in a different way through this video. Put your finger in the middle of the screen and see what's happening.

Yes, it's like you have THE golden touch. Hueh? Well, the music video is interactive in its own way. Hueh? See for example how things move over your finger. Hueh? Prepare miniature meal for your little friends

Cook a real edible mini-meal for your little teddybearfriends (or other little Jumi's)? OK, why the h....
Right, sometimes when your alone at home, it might be nice to have dinner with one of your little teddybears, dolls or in my case with little Jumi. But too bad that meals are always human-sized! So too big for your little friend! But then I saw videos of Miniature Space. The perfect solution!

Ooh, Aah, OMG, soooo cute! Yup, that's what I thought when I saw a video of Miniature Space for the first time. The company produces edible miniature dishes! In this video the chef prepares a whole meal with onigiri, soup and some tea. It looks sooo looovely tiny! Perfect for all your little friends. Sooo, would you prepare the perfect dinner for your little friend next time?

Ryota Hayashi's photos or drawings?

Instagram edited photos hmmkay. But take a very good look, and you'll see that the pic above isn't a photo at all. It's a drawing! Hmm, that makes it more interesting to see more of these 'instagram photos'.

Artist Ryota Hayashi made super realistic drawings of Nakano Ward of Tokyo. He just used some colored pencils and started to draw views of Nakano. It might take a very veeeery long time to make such a masterpiece, or not? Not Hayashi! It takes him about 20 minutes to fill up a B3 (35.3cm in x 50cm) size piece of paper. Whoww. Sit on a panda chair

Hmm, some might see this as animal abuse. It might be soft, yet it feels like it's uncomforting sitting on them: pandas.

Designers Fernando and Humberto Campana designed the Panda Banquette chair. This is a chair with little (of course plush) pandas sewn onto the canvas. So if you're a nutty panda lover searching for something unique, this might be interesting. Hm, but it only costs $45,000 (about €39.408) ahum... rright, a chair that doesn't look comfy to me... hm to me... I can imagine it's not comfy for them, the pandas either. Imagine seeing a giant buttocks moving to your head. Oempff, eventually sitting on your head. Ieekkk.

Anyway, the chairs will be sold during the Los Angeles Modern Art Auctions on March 1, 2015. Ready to try it out, sitting on some poor pandas?

Ieekk! Skeletons of cartoon characters!

OMG, is that a skeleton of Donald Duck??!! Bbbut he's fictional... or not? Yes, he's still a fictional cartoon character. The skeleton is just one of the many pieces made by South Korean artist Hyungkoo Lee.

He must be really fascinated and imagined how cartoon characters would look like without their skin. So he started to use techniques of palaeontology to build skeleton models, with biological and cartoon elements. So you'll immediately recognize Donald's head, but the body is more like that of a real duck. Pretty cool huh! Do you recognize all skeletons?

Cute latte motion will make you stop drinking latte

I totally looove latte art! Remember Yamamoto's 3D latte art? OK, even if you're a coffee junk, latte art will make you stop drinking coffee. Because it looks toooo cute to drink.

Now the world's first cute latte motion (stop motion animation) has been released by Japanese coffee maker AFG. It's created with 1,000 cups of latte! How cuuuute! Just too cute to drink it all. Enough about the cuteness. Check out the cute video, here at Jumi!

Draw piece of artwork with one line

Can you draw something with just one line? Little Jumi can! Check out her piece of artwork above. Isn't it beautiful (no, it's not for sale)! Chinese artist Chan Hwee Chong made some beautiful one-line artworks too. And this guy is pro!

Chan Hwee Chong made replica's of famous paintings Mona Lisa and Vincent van Gogh. He also created the Girl with a Pearl Earring from Vermeer. Just with one line huh. Check out how the artist draws Vermeer's painting.

Make-up meets Chinese Art

What if you just find out that your darkred diva lipstick or your glittery green eyeshadow is rotten! I mean out of date! Ieeekkkk!! Throw it away? Hm, maybe... But what if you can re-use it. No, no, not by using it on your old dolls, teddybears or little Jumi's (that's abusive). You can use it as tools for drawings.

Just like Malaysian artist Hong Yi did. “The artist who loves to paint, but not with a paintbrush” (OK, I'm not really sure if the artist only used rotten cosmetics). Hong Yi used a mascara, foundation, lipstick and more cosmetics to create the most gorgeous chinese-style paintings. It's all part of her art series "Make-up meets Chinese Art". Here are a few pieces of her artwork. Totally adore it!

Face some facts with Holcroft's satirical illustrations

Sometimes we don't want to read or see things about specific topics... or well, let's say face things, because you're simply not in the mood for it. Or you just don't want to read (that much). Or you're just too tired. Maybe you're already tired reading this intro.... Ok, ok, I'll make it short.

Some topics have been highlighted by John Holcroft. No, no, don't expect to read a full boring article or whatever, but just face it, in a different way. The British illustrator made some funny satirical pieces of artwork in a retro-style. John used metaphors to look at issues and things in our daily life. Funny! Wanna try a Submarine Sandwich?

Start with slices of boxing gloves as a base. Put pieces of football on it. Add a bit of spiciness with some old socks. And to make it more crunchy, use wiggle eye stickers to complete the perfect Submarine Sandwich.

Of course, of course the sandwich isn't part of some sort of experiment. And it's not edible (before you all run to the sandwich store with the name that starts the same as the title of the short video). Submarine Sandwich is a cool stop-motion video by PES. Babe, you're hairy!

Nope, I don't mean the woman on the picture (well, maybe she is hairy, but I'm not focusing on that). But the hairy high heels!

Look closely and you really see hair. The heels, Babe, are made of fleshy-looking silicon gel and covered in pubey black strands of human hair. Ulggg! But, it's not made without a reason.

'Babe' is made by Chinese artist Zhu Tian as a comment on how women's footwear is sexualized and fetishized. Hmm, there are men who will immediately look at you with an ulggg-dirty-mind-look when you wear your pink shiny stilettos. Will they look at you if you wear these pink heels? Well, they might... with an ulggg-dirty-mind-look... but just in another way.

Ivan Hoo's confusing superrealistic artwork on wood

What the.... Is this hand trying to poke in that eye with a pencil?? Uhm nope! Even if this hand would poke it, why not? Because it's not real (well, I guess you've guessed it's fake). This pretty realistic piece of artwork is from Singaporean artist Ivan Hoo.

Yup, the artist made several superrealistic drawings on simple boards of wood. He uses colored pencils, pastels and ink. The artist who is self-taught, says he “loves to draw realistic art or artworks that tease the eyes and the brain.” Well, some of the drawings definitely confused me. Very nice!
