Dorama tip: Birth of a Beauty

Ladies, it´s been a while, but it´s time for us to drool again... while sitting/lying on the couch with a box of chocolate and some French fries with chocolate dip and a glass of soju with a sip of cola or chocolatemilk. My addiction for Korean dramas has returned, with Birth of a Beauty!

This K-dorama is not so new anymore. It has been going on since November, with the last episode a few days ago. Anyway, Birth of a Beauty is full of dorama (duh), moments of hate, sadness, romance and of course some funnyness. The dorama is a bit predictable, I mean, I already know who will end up with who (I think. Because I haven't seen all the episodes). But the storyline of how the bond between people grows into something beautiful (or turns into disaster) is well done in this dorama.

The story
The dorama follows the life of chubby woman Sa Geum-ran. She's married with a rich douchebag Lee Kang-joon, who's cheating on her. Sa Geum-ran founds out about it omg... and shortly after she confronts douchebag, she got into a strange car-accident. While everybody thinks Sa Geum-ran is dead, something happens that will change her life. She's not dead! After the accident she got a total make-over by a 'doctor' and turned into a total unrecognizable beauty. Now it's payback time douchebag!

Go to dramafire to drool... uhh watch Birth of a Beauty (with English subtitles)!

Anyway, allkpop has a special popquiz for those who've watched the Heirs: Which male 'Heirs' character is your soulmate? And I've just finished it. Guess who's my soulmate.... Kim Tan aka Lee Min Ho. Oehh yeahh, of course! Wonder who your soulmate is? Go to allkpop to find out!

Korean drama scores Jimmy Choo craze

Remember our latest Dorama tip My Love from the Star?
Do you also loooove the Jimmy Choo heels the girl was wearing in the series? If you want to have these beauties... get in line.

This Korean drama was not only popular in Korea but also in China. And not only because of the funny story itself, but because of these fabulous shoes the main character (played by Gianna Jun) is wearing!

I'm popular.

The anthracite Jimmy Choo "Abel" heels of about $600 got sold out super fast in China and then the rest of Asia. Therefor the complete European stock has been sent to Asia. According to a newsitem of the Dutch newspaper de Telegraaf, the heels are then completely sold out. It will take 4 months to stock up extra because the shoes of Jimmy Choo are handmade. Wowzers! Would you wait 4 months for these shoes? Or am I asking the wrong question <.<

On the other hand, because of this shoe craze, this is the first time a Korean drama is featured in a newsitem of a Dutch newspaper! Yay! Although the item is in Dutch with lots of grammar mistakes, you can enjoy some funny scenes of Gianna Jun and Kim Soo-hyun again :)

All the lipsticks of Cheon Song Yi in My Love from the Star!

Also one of the lipsticks Gianna is wearing in this drama as her character Cheon Song Yi, the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture - no52 Rosy Coral is sold out worldwide because of the show. We tried and the website of Yves Saint Laurent puts you on a waitinglist when you order it. Only chances to get this color now is from Ebay for about $70 or a cheap knock off, of which I am dying to hear your alternatives!

And if you have seen the drama, it's funny to know that chicken and beer is now a very popular dish in China. Ha!

Dorama tip: 3 Days

No soppy lovestory here, this is... Reallll Actionnn....

I am talking about the new Korean series 3 Days starring Park Yoo-Chun and Park Ha-Sun. And also So E-Hyun, who has a familiar face to K-dramafans. The series just has started and I am already enjoying every bit of it. The excitement and storyline is super thrilling. And there is also Real Action. ;)

The plot is about the Korean president who disappears after three gunshots at his holiday villa. What is happening in those 3 days after that incident? Where is the president?? Is he... dead?? Bodyguard Park Yoo-Chun finds out early that there is some foul play going around.

Check out the teaser:

He says something like:  Unless you kill me first, you can't kill the president.

I always find Korean thriller movies awesome. So you can imagine my opinion of this drama. The quality is top-notch.

There will be 16 episodes in total. I say, bring it on! Woohoo!

Dorama tip: My Love from the Star

Finally a new good and funny Korean drama series! I don't mind staying at home, zipping delicious tea, eat Mark and Spencer chocolates and watch my K-drama!!

My Love from the Star (or You who came from the stars, My love from another star etc.) is a series about Cheon Song-yi, Korea's best actress. She is a top star and is known for her dumb tweets. And there is a guy Do Min-joon, who is from another planet and got stuck on Earth 400 years ago. He still is alive and has superpowers! Also he has nice lips.... >.>

When Do Min-joon finally sees a chance to return to his planet, odd encounters with Cheon Song-yi happens. I wish I have a neighbour like him! ;) And she looks an awful lot like the girl from 400 years ago, who was very dear to Do Min-joon. So will he fall in love with the actress? Or will he choose for his return to his planet.

Will the guy fall for this girl?
This show is very funny and even episode 12 still make me laugh out loud! Most drama's tend to get boring and soppy after the few first episodes. But this series has enough cool twists to keep you hooked.
Actors Gianna Jun and Kim Soo-hyun have a great chemistry!

Do we have more Jumi readers who watch this series? What are your thoughts about it?

Dorama tip: Marry Him If You Dare

Ahh how I love to just sit, eat and watch my dorama. How about you?

Recently watching the Korean drama Marry Him If You Dare.
The story is about Na Mi-Rae, an average looking girl. Now the Na Mi-Rae from the future returns to 2013 to visit the younger Na Mi-Rae. So you have 30 something Na Mi-Rae and Ahjumma (older woman) Na Mi-Rae.
Okay then the Ahjumma warns the girl not to marry the guy she is supposed to marry. That guy, played by Lee Dong-Gun, is a total douchebag. So all eyes are set on the cute guy Park Se Joo played by Jung Yong-Hwa. Oh he is cute.... And they all happen to work at the same place.
And to make it more interesting, both the douchebag and the cutie have a thing going on for Na Mi-Rae.

So.. the big question in this love triangle is... will Na Mi-Rae end up with the douchebag just like her future-self? Or will the future change and will she hook up with the cutie? Or will she just stay single. I really hope she will choose the cute guy. But to make the drama exciting, the douchebag is changing to mister Nice Guy.. hm.

This drama is funny to watch!

Lee Min Ho sings Painful Love

Yes, I am totally addicted to Korean dorama The Heirs. (Even though the story is a bit predictable.) I totally love Lee Min Ho's sad emo side in this dorama. I've even cried seeing one of the episodes. *Boehoeh* OK, enough crying. Good news: Today Lee Min Ho released his track 'Painful Love' of the dorama's soundtrack!

The lyrics describes the emotions of a man who is willing to give up everything in his life for the woman he loves. *Boehoeh* How sweet Lee Min Ho! I'm not a real big fan of his singing, but to be honest, if I hear this song, I can feel a *boehoeh* again, because the song is just sadly beautiful.

Enough talking. Listen to Painful Love, here at JUMI.

Drama tip: The Heirs

I've waited a loooooong time to see Lee Min Ho again. And finally, he's back! He's the shining star in a new K-dorama: The Heirs. This is a romantic comedy about... in short: Rich student meets poor girl. Love! But then they have to struggle for love.

I've just watched the first two episodes. Lee Min Ho plays the rich student, Kim Tan. He lives in California (so the dorama has partly been filmed in the US). Poor girl with an unfortunate life is Cha Eun-Sang. They meet each other, and of course Kim Tan is falling in love with her. BUT he's engaged to rich girl Rachel. OMG DRAMA! So I guess Kim Tan and Cha Eun-Sang have to struggle for their love.

Hmmm, is it worth enough to watch The Heirs? It has a predictable story. Well.... YES! Of course it's always nice to see Lee Min Ho again, after a loooooong time. And it's nice to hear him talking in English (hihi cute to hear his English). What I don't like are the characters played by foreigners. Why the... OMG. Where the hell did the director picked these actors up? Uhmm... are they actors? Their acting is bad. But it's lovely to see another setting besides South Korea: sunny California beach. And it's just a feelgood romantic drama for rainy days.

You can watch The Heirs at gooddrama.net. If you've already seen episodes, please let us know what you think. Did you like it or not?

Boys Over Flowers goes USA?

What I've heard now, might shock some of us, K-dorama lovers (I'm sure some of us have heard this news). American company WillKinn Media, will create an American version of Korean drama Boys Over Flowers (one of the first time I've encountered Lee Min Ho... OMG.... *drool*)! Why the.. What the... Say what? Huh?

Yup, it's true. I don't want to be too negative about it, because I haven't seen it yet. But I'm veeeerrry sure that this won't be a success as the Korean (or Japanese version). No, because Lee Min Ho won't be part of it! They've released the cast of the dorama. And uhm... that doesn't make me happier.

Here are some of the actors:
Joseph Almani - Liam Montgomery
Trenton Culkin - Oliver Young
Napoleon Tavale -  Chase Carlton

Why, why, whhyyyyyy! Will this be better than the original? I guess it will have the same storyline, so why the hell should we check out this version. Are you going to watch the American Boys Over Flowers? Hmm, I think I'm going to try an episode...

Review: Song Seung Heon's app Honey Side

'Le droolement'
Soo finally the official mobile app of handsome manly man and actor Song Seung Heon is available for Android! He even introduced the app to his fans himself! What a gentleman *siiigh*...

Well, let's review this app! We downloaded the app right away and so.. uhm okay.. so this is a partial review... let us explain further:

What the handsome man forgot to mention is.. the most important thing of this app, is that you need to know the Korean language. Because the intro en registerpages are completely in Korean.. hmm
But with our basic Korean and guessing skills (and a lot of time) we got to manage through the registering level to finally enter our details and click the button that says #$9sblah what probably means "register"..
and there is our first error. "Failed to open a new account".
Wait, what?? So.. we can't go further?? We can't go in and peeping at our Heony? What did we do wrong?? We filled in everything correct.. no Songie to rescue us??

After restarting the app we suddenly got treated to a talking Song Seung Heon with his deep voice and sexy images of this manly man. We can't resist his smile and tried to register again, but no. After trillion times we still get "Failed to open a new account". Sad face!

Maybe the app has reached its registerlimit? Maybe the Android version still has some bugs? Or maybe it's more personal,  (change to bitchy voice:) maybe he doesn't want fans from Holland?! Huh!! (>_<) Omo our heads...

Conclusion
Boohoo, we gonna go drown ourselves in soju somewhere because we got rejected by Song Seung Heon. When this app gets an update or we get an apology letter or something, we will review this app again. But for now, *manning up*, soju.

Did any of our readers had more luck than us? Let us know!

Dorama Tip: Cheongdamdong Alice

Yes we have another must see dorama... you should totally check out Cheongdamdong Alice.
It's like an Alice in Wonderland story. And Alice wants to find her White Rabbit. Only this Alice is a golddigger.

The girl is named Han Se Kyung and is an honest, hard working girl. She gets a lot of struggle in life and then decided, with the help of the doramabitch ofcourse, to find herself a sugar daddy aka White Rabbit. So that she can afford her parents home and live in luxury.

She meets poor secretary Kim, a goodlooking guy with a killersmile, and without knowing luck is on her path. Because this secretary is actually top class rich designer Jean Thierry Cha (Ssha~) played by Park Shi Hoo. Wow what a man, whatta man, whatta man, whatta mighty good man! But the girl, I am getting a little annoyed by her, after finding this out she is still playing games to poor Jean and don't know herself what to do. I would.

Well, I am curious how this ends. I love the role by Park Shi Hoo, he has some hilarious moments. And his smile...*-*
You can see this show at Dramacrazy.

Song Seung-Heon in When a Man Loves

It's been a while since I've been drooling on...uhhh seen... Song Seung-Heon in a dorama. Guess what? Soon we can all drool again! Our Songie will be the main lead in a new dorama: When a Man Loves (남자가 사랑할 때).

In When a Man Loves, Songie plays "Han Tae-Sang, a successful business man, who has a cold-blooded decisiveness and incredible drive. This helped him to attain his current status, as he started with nothing. Then he meets a younger woman named Seo Mi-Do. Her personality reminds him of himself when he was that age. Han Tae-Sang begins to feel love for the first time in his life. Then a man named Lee Jae-Hee (Yeon Woo-Jin) confronts Han Tae-Sang over Seo Mi-Do." OMG, drama!

Anyway, we still have to wait a few months, because When a Man Loves will be released in April. I couldn't find a trailer yet, but when it's available I'll definitely post it :)

Teasers IRIS 2

I really really can't wait to see Korean action drama IRIS 2. But I need to be a bit more patient. Because this drama will start airing on February 13th. For now I just need to be satisfied with the teasers. Yup, it's sooo good to see bad Baek San's face again.

Sowwie had to post his face...

And funny to see MBLAQ‘s Lee Joon and B2ST‘s Yoon Doo-Joon. Too bad no Lee Byung-Hun :( Just like the first IRIS, this sequel has been filmed on different locations. Besides South Korea the cast went to Hungary, Cambodia and Japan.

If you haven't seen the first IRIS, please check it out. Here are the teasers of IRIS 2.

Oohlala Spouses

Yes, another Korean dorama caught JUMI's attention: Oohlala Spouses (or Ohlala Couple or Wool La La Bubu).

This dorama is about a married couple. The guy, Soo Nam, is a total jerk who's treating his wife bad, by nagging, annoying and just acting spoiled and childish. The woman, Yeo Ok, is stupid too. She's a housewife and she's being too soft. Working her butt off at home, caring for her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her spoiled son. Anyway, that jerk does something unforgivable, so Yeo Ok decides to get a divorce after a marriage of 12 years. OK, maybe this dorama sounds serious, but it's really funny!

Then something magical happens. They get into an accident and this causes their body to swap. This leads to hilarious situations. Soo Nam looks sooo gay, the way he walks and talks haha..of course...the soul of his wife is in his body. Great actor btw!

Even though they can't live together in this life, there's something that connects them. They share the same past in another life. Hmm, will the body swap bring them back together in this life?

IRIS 2

A few months ago I was totally hooked on Korean action-dorama IRIS (or Airiseu or 아이리스). Even though it has ended, the drama continued in my dreams, for real! I've seen Lee Byung Hun escaping from terrorist attacks and suddenly he was in the studios of the television show Masterchef!

Anyway, I was really having withdrawal symptoms from IRIS. I was sooo sad that it has ended, because I still had a lot of questions. For example: Who the hell is Mr. Black! And will there be a sequel? And Lee Byung Hun, what about this poor guy?

Finally I've found out that there will be an IRIS, part 2! Yaaaaaayyy! The filming will start next month. Unfortunately JUMI's hero Lee Byung Hun won't be part of it, because he's too busy with his upcoming Hollywood movie Red 2, with Bruce Willis. But bad bad Baek San is back (Kim Young-Chul). And the North Korean agent Kim Sun-Hwa (Kim So-Yeon). She's an awesome actress! Her comrade Park Cheol-Yeong (Kim Seung-Woo) will return back too. So I'm really glad that they didn't choose a complete new cast.

Hmm, about the new cast, I can tell you that MBLAQ's Lee Joon and Yoon Doo-Joon from B2ST have a role in IRIS 2. Will they be as bad as T.O.P.'s character from the first IRIS? I don't think so. Lee Joon will be playing the role of Agent Kim Ji Heon who has a superior talent in breaking and counteracting secret codes. Yoon Doo-Joon will be playing the role of Agent Yoon Si Hyuk who lives and dies by style (hmm, that's sad).

Anyway, I really reaaaallly can't wait to see it! This action-dorama will be broadcasted in February 2013. If you haven't seen the first IRIS, I really recommend you to watch it, because this is definitely my favorite action-dorama!

Drama tip: Rich Man, Poor Woman

Our Dutch summer has more rainy days than sunny days.. So what to do on days when it's all rainy outside? Right, drama time!!!! :)
Or drama-marathon-time, I like to watch more episodes on a day without waiting for another week! The wait is killing!

Right now I am watching Rich Man Poor Woman, a series about an successfull IT company run by not-very-social Oguri Shun and his partner/good friend. Well this "good friend" isn't that good and innocent... the bastard plays a dirty trick on his businesspartner Oguri. Then there is this clumsy girl played by Ishihara Satomi, but she is smart and a big help for Oguri, although he doesn't pay much attention to her. But during hard times she is his biggest support. And there is something between them that is so lovely to follow, although you know how it will develop.. hehe.

I like this drama, because it has a different setting instead of a school or a café/restaurant, it has a business setting and it's very fresh to watch. Plus great acting by Oguri ^^.
You better hurry to catch up, the series is still ongoing.

I've only made a selection of award winners. Click here to see the whole list.

So, the Korean dorama Rooftop Prince is the winner of the show. I haven't seen it yet...hmm, is it worth watching it? I'm already addicted to Reply 1997 and Faith...

Anyway, it's nice to hear that the OST of The King 2 Hearts won an award too ^_^

Historical drama favorite: Faith

OK, I really don't like historical doramas, but I HAD to see Faith. I just saw the first episode and....I love it!

This really isn't a typical boring dorama. Faith starts with an animation and
it goes waaay back in time. A Kingdom has been attacked and the princess gets hurt. She's dying and nobody can help her! Now a bodyguard of the king, Choi Yeong (Lee Min Ho!!), has to find someone who can save the princess's life. So through some kind of gateway to heaven he has to find "God's doctor". But actually this gateway brings him to the future, or well 2012. There he meets the possible God doctor...or well, he thinks she is. But she's not. Eun-Soo is just a 21st-century plastic surgeon. So he kidnaps her to the past, so that she can save the princess. And now I have to see the second episode.

Besides the beautiful animation, Faith also has a lot of hilarious moments. I laughed out soooo loud, when Choi Yeong travelled to the future. Of course, because he's from the past, he's never seen a car, camera or a TV before. So the look on his face and how he reacts on these normal things.... so funny! But imagine seeing a man from the past right now on the streets. Wearing a historical outfit and a huge sword. How would you react? I think you would have the same look on your face like Choi Yeong haha. You would think he's nuts.

So, Faith is funny, has animated moments and there's some action. Love it. Anyway, I'm done talking. I need to see the next episode now! Yayy!

Reply 1997

I found a new funny k-drama: Reply 1997, also known as Answer to 1997. This dorama takes us back to the nineties (and sometimes switches back to the present), where there are no smartphones, but pagers and huge home telephones. And the time when boyband H.O.T. was totally hot! To be honest, I've never heard of them, so I thought it was a fictional boyband hahah, sorry fans.

Anyway this dorama follows a high school student, Seong Si Won, who is totally fan of H.O.T. and her five friends. One of Si Won's friends is her childhood friend Yoon Yoon Jae. While Seong Si Won only has eyes for one of H.O.T.'s members, her childhood friend seems to be in love with her. I've just finished watching the second episode, so I really don't know what happens next. But it's funny! It's also funny that some things are sooo recognizable. Yes, I also used to idolize uhm.... well I still do ^_^

For now, enjoy H.O.T.'s nice music video, here at JUMI!
