OMG, have you already 'met' Leo? He's a supercute Hi-Tech pet robot. Cuuute, I wanna have it and play with it! Well, it seems that Leo is trying to find someone too.

In this short video, made by ISART DIGITAL, lonely Leo searches the city, a bit of a dead city, for someone to play with. And then he finds someone. Yaayyyyyy! Wanna play with him too?

Transform yourself into Optimus Prime

I really didn't like Transformers the movie. And now I've found something hideous again. Hmm, well, some Transformers divas may like it.... transforming into Optimus Prime, Bumblebee or Megatron...

Yup, these are catsuits of the three characters. Hm, riiight, I think you can't even turn properly into one of the characters. Wearing huge ugly blocks around your feet... Ah well, I guess a lot of women disagree, because on the website 80stees they're currently out of stock. A suit costs $80 (€59,08).

The babyrobot looks so real! And how he roams his pram through the streets of Manhattan with his little middlefinger up, awesome! Would you be scared if you saw this? Actually the main question would be, are you anticipating the movie. But I think the prank surpasses the preview of the movie, don't you think so?

Robo kitty

We all know that Hello Kitty isn't just for girliegirlies. We've seen her before as a Teenage Mutant Hello Kitty and she even turned into Terminator. Now it's time to meet Hello Kitty as Mech KT519!

Aaron Liu, designer and toy creator (Hong Kong) introduced the 'Kitty Intelligence' Hello Kitty Robot Custom. He made this tough Kitty. Aaron has created, besided the Mech KT519, a series of original model works of modified plastic parts. But I totally love this Hello Kitty Robot!

OMG, Cup Noodle transforms into robot?

JUMI looooves Cup Noodles (and Indomie). So I was almost hyperventilating when I saw that a Cup Noodle turned into a real USB humidifier. That was last year. Now I'm almost hyperventilating again, because, because.... now a Cup Noodle was caught on camera while turning into a robot!

Yup, the robot showed his face at the Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) booth at CEATEC 2013 (Cutting-Edge IT & Electronica Comprehensive Exhibition). Oehhh, I want to have the Cup Noodle humidifier AND this Cup Noodle robot!

Have your own holographic Gordon Ramsay

Did you ever fantasize how it would be if we had holograms of people who can actually talk? You know just like the Star Wars holograms? Well, stop fantasizing because now designer Teerapol O-charoen has really created a hologram system: The Humaleon system!

This hologram is specialized in cooking. Yup, the hologram is a chef. Now you can interact with your own chef. He will give you tutorials, recipes, and step-by-step instructions. And you can share your recipes with friends who also have a Humaleon system. How cool is that!

So now we can have our own holographic chef. Hmmm, what's next?

Mimicking mannequin robot: MarionetteBot

Imagine this: your walking down the shoppingstreets at midnight. Just to do some windowshopping. And there you have it. Your favorite dress worn by a mannequin of the store! So you're staring at it. But suddenly it looks like the mannequin is moving. Oh, or is it just your imagination..... or not? It seems like the mannequin really moves. Or worse, it mimics YOUR movements! OMGGG what the..... Witchcraft? Horror?? Ieeeek!!!

OK, do not worry if you're standing in front of United Arrows largest fashionstore in Tokyo. Yup, there they've put worlds first interactive mannequin behind the windows: MarionetteBot.

These mannequins are connected with Kinect. If you're standing in front of it, it will copy exactly your movements, just like a marionette. Check out the video of the MarionetteBot, here at JUMI!

I've seen remote controlled robots, but this one looks like it's homemade. A car that transforms into a walking robot. Yup, so you can drive it and you can make it walk too. OK, the robot walks a bit like a retard. Ah well, it's still a robot, so you shouldn't expect the robot to move flexible.

Optimus Prime transforms into New Era cap

OK, this time no girliestuff. But I really have to share this! Optimus Prime and Megatron can now transform into caps!

Yup, Takara Tomy worked together with New Era to create Transformers Cap Bots. These New Era 59FIFTY fitted caps have their traditional colors, so no shinyness or metallic colors. Even though they can transform into caps, I'm not sure if you can actually wear them. Takara Tomy plans to release the hat robots on December 15. So maybe a nice Christmas present for yourself?

Cute hungry robot eats other robots

Can robots be hungry? Do they have something like an appetite? Of course some have. Like this cute little robot in the animation "Putty Boy Strut" by Flying Lotus and directed by Cyriak.

The robot eats everything that comes in his way. And every time he eats, he grows and gets bigger. Even though it sounds terrible... a robot eating his own kind....the robot is still cute. I guess the song cutifies the whole animation. Check out the video, here at JUMI!

Real life Transformers Autobot

Forget those fancy, shiny, luxury Autobots that always look too perfect in the series, comics or movies. It's too bad that we can only fantasize about having a perfectly looking Autobot. We never see those transforming cars in real life. They just don't exist! Or well, I've seen some replicas and they look okay. But they can't transform! So, they shouldn't call them Autobots...

Anyway, wouldn't it be nice if the Autobots look more realistic? Well, finally a man from Jinan, China's Shangdong Province, created an Autobot-next-door-Transformer! And it can transform! Yes, for real! It took the man half a year to create his own Transformer. And I've got a lot of respect for this man. He's not even an engineer or mechanic and he built it all by himself! The man is just a huuge fan of Transformers, and that's all it took to create his own Autobot. The Autobot can walk and you can really drive in it. Well, it's not that fast (15 km per hour), but still... you shouldn't forget that this is a real life Autobot.

Doraemon is -100 years old

Yesterday was a big day for Doraemon. It was his -100th birthday! Minus 100? Yup, officially September the 3th, 2112, is the day that he was/is/will be born in a robot factory in Kawasaki (Japan).

To celebrate his birthday, Doraemon became an official resident of Kawasaki. Now he has a special residency certificate.

Besides Doraemon's birthplace, Google Japan celebrated his birthday too. They made a video about "how Doraemon’s futuristic technological abilities have already been realized. We don’t yet have a “dokodemo door” that can transport us to any place on earth, but Google’s Street View is almost as good."

Supercell ft. Hatsune Miku

OK, this time not a post about K-pop, but J-pop!

Recently Japanese 11-member music group Supercell released their newest music video "ODDS&ENDS" featuring....Hatsune Miku!

I promise you, this time Hatsune Miku's voice doesn't become annoying after a few seconds. And to me it doesn't sound girly childish, thanks to the beautiful music video and Supercell's music of course.

From the start this video already gives me goosebumps and when I see the cute little robot, ahhh...I start to melt like a M&M in my hand. Yes, you really need to see it.

There are different interpretations of the video. One viewer said this: “At 4:58, Miku forms from the ‘odds & ends’ laying around the room. I think that each piece of junk represents the people, such as producers and illustrators, involved in making Vocaloid music. If even one piece of junk goes missing, Miku falls apart. They may never be able to compare to professionals, but when a group of amateurs come together they can create something big like this”.

Eat noodles sliced by Chef Cui... the robot

A lot of the noodles we eat are cut and sliced by machines. But there are some noodle restaurants where it's still handmade. Everyday chefs cut and slice noodles day by day in restaurants. Unfortunately this job isn't very popular anymore. "With more and more joboffers, young people don't want to work as chef to slice noodles. And this job is very exhausting".

But now Cui Runquan from China invented Chef Cui: the noodle-shaving robot! According to a noodle shop owner, the robot "can slice noodles better than human chefs and it is much cheaper than a real human chef". Hmm, what if someone wants to apply for the job of 'chef-noodle', will he be rejected because someone else is better and much cheaper: mr. robot?

Ah well, robots are already replacing humans. They even wash our hair now, make our coffee and icecream. They even replaced beggars on the streets... Hmm, when do we get real robocops (i don't mean the fake cyborg movie version^_^)?

Kuratas: the giant human controlled robot

If you don't like to drive a car, sail a boat or ride a bike, then maybe you'll like this new kind of vehicle: Kuratas the robot. (No, not Gundam)

Yes, this is the world's first giant boarding robot! Creator of Kuratas, Suidobashi Heavy Industry, unveiled him at Wonder Fest 2012 in Tokyo. So you can hop onto the robot and control it. How cool is that!

Kuratas features two types of controlling. You can sit inside the robot and control it with a touch screen panel. Or if you're not in the mood to sit in the Kuratas, you can remotely control the robot through a 3D network, using a laptop, tablet or smartphone. So now you can 'become' a robot and walk and drive with it (10 km an hour).

But wait, this robot can do something else. A not so cool feature. It has a weapon function (human friendly). The only thing you have to do in order to let the robot shoot is smile. Yes, it's connected with some kind of weird smile system. Hm.

Anyway, if you're delighted to have an unique vehicle, then you can buy Kuratas for just 815993,47 Euros. Hm, quiet expensive huh.....but you can also choose a different color, instead of boring grey/black. How about a babyblue or girlie pink Kuratas?

How to survive a Robopocalypse

Sometimes they look so cute. But sometimes they're scary as hell. For example the realistic clone of a Danish scientist: the Geminoid. Or the one that can think for itself (and is also self-learning). What about the hair-washing worker. So, the day will come that they'll take over a lot of our own work. OK, what am I blabbling about? ROBOTS!

It seems like science fiction. But what if they really are going take over the world? Well, there's a person, Daniel H. Wilson, who wrote the sci-fi book "Robopocalypse".  Daniel is a robot-expert. Now Epipheo interviewed Daniel to find out exactly how to survive a robot uprising. It's pretty interesting and the interview is not too technical, so everyone can understand it. Oh, by the way, Steven Spielberg has committed to direct a film based on Daniel's book Robopocalypse. It will be released on July 3, 2013. And I can't wait to see it!!! 

Meet the Hair-Washing Robot

If you're too lazy to wash your own hair, then this new invention might be perfect for you. And you don't even have to ask a person to wash your hair, but....a ROBOT!

Last month Panasonic introduced the Head Care Robot, a real Hair-Washing Robot. It's a special machine attached to the chair. The machine has three arms. One on the left, right and one beneath the neck, each with eight fingers. This way, the robot can massage the shampoo and conditioner better in your hair.

The robot is in trial at Hair Salon Super Seo in Nishiyama City (Japan). Originally it's designed to support staff at hospitals and care facilities with hair washing. But I think that if it really becomes a success, we will find these robots in hair salons too (in the near future). Hmmm, do you want to try this robot out? The small thick fingers of this robot look too scary to me. You can't ask the robot to massage your head more softly. What if the robot suddenly freaks out and presses your brain out, OMG ieeeekkk!! Robotic rings

If you really want to show off your brand new rings, well, then forget those typical blingblings, and wear Robotic Rings!

Keio University invented the wearable robot, that can be controlled with a microcontroller. The robot can blink its eyes and open/shut its mouth. The university is still working on the controlling part. They want the robot to "enable to sense motion by the wearer and people nearby, so it can move automatically".

Hmm, maybe they can also beautify it, because now the rings are just boring white. And it looks like the eyes has been ripped out of Furby's orbit, and the mouth too. Colorize it in pink, purple, silver or gold. Put some eyeshadow and lipstick on it. And some glitter. This would make it look less scary and more fashionable, right?

Movie ROBO-G: Grandpa in a robosuit

OK, I just saw a funny trailer of the new Japanese film: ROBO-G. The film is directed by Shinobu Yaguchi. It's about the new robot, ‘Robo-G’, which has been created by three employees of a small electronics maker in order to get the company more exposure. Unfortunately, they have bad luck, because the robot gets destroyed shortly before they wanted to show it to the public at a robo-expo. Now they came up with a pretty strange idea: put a real human inside the robot structure! Because the show must go on. And guess who has to be that person....a 73 year-old grandpa. From then on, ‘Robo-G’ becomes more popular than they ever dreamed. Things turn much more bizarre when a young female student falls in love with the robot. Haha, hilarious!

Anyway, the robot looks awesome. No high-tech, hypermodern technology or other futuristic stuff. It's just a nice old-fashioned robot, with some scratches.

The movie has been released a few days ago in Japan. Check out the trailer.

Pillowbear against snoring

So you're having a sleepover at your place. Sounds like fun, having fun all day and night, until it's time to sleep. And what if you're that unlucky person that has this friend who snores like a motorcycle in dolby surround, volume 1000! Noooo!

It's time for a solution. Ask your snoring friend to use your bear as pillow. Uh bear? Yup, a professor, Dr. Kabe from Waseda University’s Kabe Lab came up with this cute invention: Jukusui-kun! This is a bear that doesn't like snoring people. Let your friend sleep on it, and every time he/she starts the motorcycle, the bear will react by moving his hand towards the head. In that way, the person will turn around from lying on the back to moving onto the side, which will reduce the snoring sounds. Watch a short demonstration, here at JUMI!
